Humko Tumse Pyaar Hai is a mediocre love story with Bobby Deol, Ameesha Patel and Arjun Rampal playing key roles.

The poverty of ideas is all too apparent in Humko Tumse Pyaar Hai. Bollywood folks have so beaten to death the love triangle that it's hard to believe something interesting can result from such a theme.

Durga (Ameesha Patel) is a blind girl living with her mother and brother in a Rajasthani village. The blind girl makes idols for a living.

One day, Durga is saved from falling into a deep ravine by a local young man Rohit a.k.a Babu (Arjun Rampal).

Soon, the two fall in love. Durga's Babu promises to have her eyesight restored and makes arrangements for the operation.

Meanwhile as her operation is in progress, the local baddie, who's had his eyes on Durga for a while, attacks Babu. In the attack, Babu is presumed dead.

Durga's eye operation is a success. But she's heartbroken on hearing the news about her Babu's death and attempts to commit suicide.

Durga's doctor, who considers the young girl to be like a daughter, takes the young girl with him to Switzerland. In picturesque Switzerland, Durga is still pining over her lost love when she meets a businessman Raj (Bobby Deol). Although Raj is instantly smitten with Durga, she is initially indifferent to his overtures but warms up to him eventually. Their marriage is fixed and they return to India.

Well, what do you think happens next? It turns out that Durga's Babu, who conveniently turns out to be Raj's best friend, is not dead and reappears leaving the girl in one big fix.

Ameesha Patel is totally unconvincing as the blind girl Durga. Despite being blind, the girl walks around, and even breaks into dances and songs, without as much as a blind-man's stick to assist her. Come on, give us a break.

Ameesha Patel's costume designer deserves kudos for making the actress look stunning in almost every scene.

Our favorite songs in Humko Tumse Pyaar Hai were Bajne Lage Hain, Chori Se Dil Ko and Kaise Tumhe.

As for her acting skills, Ameesha has miles to go and miles to go before she can reach anywhere near the capabilities of her peers like Rani Mukerji, who last year delivered a memorable performance as a blind and deaf girl in Black.

Besides Switzerland, Humko Tumse Pyaar Hai has been shot in Jaisalmer and Mahabaleshwar. - Copyright SearchIndia.com.
