Sarfarosh
Reviewer's Summary - Above Average

Language: Hindi
Year: 1999
Actors: Aamir Khan, Naseeruddin Shah, Sonali Bendre, Mukesh Rishi
Producer & Director: John Matthew Matthan
Music: Jatin-Lalit
Story & Screenplay: John Matthew Matthan
Dialogs: Hriday Lani & Pathik Vats

Although the puny police officer Ajay Rathore (Aamir Khan) looks ridiculous fighting much bigger thugs, Sarfarosh is an above average movie.

An interesting theme - cross-border terrorism sponsored by Pakistan in India through the supply of sophisticated arms - combined with a fast-paced script and fine acting by Aamir Khan and Naseeruddin Shah makes Sarfarosh an unusual Bollywood film.

Ajay Rathore becomes a police officer after terrorists attack his father and brother, leaving his father paralyzed and his brother dead.

Naseeruddin Shah is impressive as the vengeful Pakistani Ghazal singer Gulfam Hassan quietly orchestrating violence in India.

Sonali Bendre has little to do as Ajay's girlfriend Seema. In fact, she is irrelevant to the movie, which begs the question as to why she is even there in the first place.

Mukesh Rishi has rendered a strong performance as inspector Salim whose loyalties are suspect because he is a Muslim.

While the songs are not extraordinary, they are not bad either. Is Deewana Ladke Ko and Jo Haal Dil Ka, the Aamir-Sonali romantic songs sequence are OK. We liked the club song scene Yeh Jawani Hadh Kar De too. - Copyright SearchIndia.com.
