Commenting Restored

Folks, we have now restored the commenting process on the SI blog.

We’d disabled it for a few hours last night as we made some changes to the backend of this blog to improve load-time.

However, for the next 24-48 hours some users may continue to experience technical issues. Hopefully, things should settle down after that.

As we made the changes, some comments may have been lost but we’ll try to restore them and input them manually.

Thank you.

oh, what a relief!.. I have been wanting to suggest something.. Can your original posts have timestamps.. I don’t know if the others care, but I’d like that.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

We’ll see what we can do.

    Umm, timestamps?

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

Yes, your stalker wants timestamps (date and time of publication of a post).

Here’s my suggestion. When you post links to external sites (i.e. not your own Slumdog review but say, maybe a T of I review) can you make it so that when we click on the link it opens in a new tab or window in our browser. It’s a slight pain in the neck when I have to leave the site and come back, especially if I am trying to compare the two things side by side.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

That’s not an issue at all with any tabbed browser.

Right-click on link and open link in new tab. Works with Firefox and recent versions of IE like IE 7.

It should open right next to the post.

Right-clicking increases the chance of carpal tunnel syndrome..(doesn’t it?) Once we get it, we can sue SI.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

Off topic. Very relieved. There was a dead cat in our back yard. The Animal Control folks came and took it away.

What would we do if it were India? We’d stand on the road and look for the worst dressed person, offer him/her Rs 5 (those days) and ask him/her to heave it into the drain as far away from our house as possible.

    Different places, different tactics.

Ah, I’ve now discovered a magic feature of Firefox through the neglected right click.

dead cat.. Not sure.. we used to have pigs roaming on the street. Sometimes the temple elephant used to be paraded on the road.. cows, stray dogs, drunks.. screaming buses, an inch of dust every day..

I think my living conditions are much better now.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

Temple elephants on the road..sounds interesting and exotic now…do you have a picture?

I think there would be some photo hidden under layers of dust in my hometown.. not here with me now. I don’t think the elephant is there anymore.
