New York – A Box Office Dud

Yash Raj’s New York Suffers 9/11-like Collapse; in ICU

Yash Raj Films‘ latest crap show New York is turning out to be a box office disaster in the U.S. if the opening weekend performance is anything to go by.

New York grossed $467,694 in the opening weekend here and opened at #16.

Here are the U.S. box office numbers for New York provided in a comparative perspective:

New York Box Office Report

By the way, the folks at Yash Raj Films are touting New York as ‘Housefull Worldwide.’

Folks, that is a Godzilla-size lie.

When we went to watch New York in a U.S. theatre, there were no more than six or seven people in the entire theatre. Say, is the U.S. part of the world or what?

‘Housefull Worldwide‘ – What baloney.

Wonder what Aditya Chopra is smoking these days.

Here are the U.S. box office results for the opening weekend for a bunch of Yash Raj films:

“houseful” – your friendly spellchecker 🙂

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    Indeed (thanks).

We have now put quote marks around Housefull Worldwide in the above post to make it clear to readers that we’ve reproduced it verbatim from the Yash Raj web site.

Looks like it is doing good in India. I know you’ll ask for proof, but I don’t have any. Like how you have mentioned you see very few in theatres there I see jam-packed shows here. So I assume it is doing good here.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

It’s possible that New York is doing well in India. You see, people may be desperate to escape the summer heat in an air-conditioned room for 2 hrs 35 minutes.

Since air-conditioning is ubiquitous here (no we don’t have power cuts unlike in India), we are more discerning in the Bollywood movies we watch.

How’s that for an explanation? 😉

what sort of a rubbish search feature do you have? it sucks! i’m gonna go watch New York.
Fix it by the time i get back or i’ll be boycotting this site.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

God, you whine so much about a free service (we mean the SI blog).

Bet even the Lord can’t save the hapless seller on the rare occasion you decide to pay for something! You’ll make his/her/its life miserable.

BTW, we just searched for a few words like “John Abraham” “New York” “porn” “schmuck” … the search worked fine.

Maybe, you were searching for “transgender” or “sex change” or “pen** enlargement” “jihad” or some such vile terms. We plead guilty that the fine SI blog can’t assist you with such search terms. 😉

Now, let us eat our Bisibele-bath in peace. It’s been eons since we enjoyed this rice treat from Karnataka. With Starbucks coffee on the side, Bisibele-bath tastes heavenly.

    how sweet.
hope your Bisibele & starbucks tastes just as good through a feeding tube as it does for us young schmucks. =)

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

Oh, we are not in the winter of our lives yet…just the autumn years.

Of course, like all good wine we get better as the years go by. You knew that, didn’t you? 😉
