kanthaswamy songs are not like AR Rahman songs but the songs are very good to listen and all are somewhat feels smooth and happy, there is no melody song or a full kuthu song, all are quite different from other movie songs.

Lyrics are the plus point in these songs, lyrics are quite different from other movie songs. IThellam Dupe, MEOW mEOW , excuse me these songs have good lyrics so they got atracted by many (but there are many who likes it but they pretend they do not like it )

BTW, u say did u like it or not ? say yes or no.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

We’ll say Yes or No after the movie releases.

Meaow, meaow…is horrible. You can’t put any bloody words into a music and call it a SONG. Just listen to “Heart goes on” (Titanic) the power of presentation and the sound, lyrics, techniques of the vocal….you will be blown away. That is a song.

Even the druggie Amy Winehouse has better lyrics than kolly’s. Some of my oldies’ favourite songs with (I think) better lyrics are:
    Words – F.R. David
More than I can say – Leo sayer
I was born to love you – Freddie Mercury
Crazy little thing called love – Freddie Mercury
I want to break free – Freddie M.
Will you be there – MJ
Man in the mirror – MJ
Against all the odds – Phil Collins
Up where we belong – Joe Cocker
Time after time – Cindy Lauper
    Smooth Operator – Sade
    Frankie – Sister Sledge
    Careless Whisper – George Michael

The thing is, Kolly’s are still sticking on to the same old stuff. No creativity in lyrics. Maybe, the sound has improved but bad lyrics added to it, can kill it like roaches. I hate these Kuthu stuff. It’s meant for the dopes who will forget the essence of a story, the meaning of a cinema, the script and the whole lot,the meaning of a cinema simply to give they’re monkey dance to hide everything. Kuthu is a deciept to fool the crowd. No connection to a story.

Just imagine if Hollywood giving a kuthu to all those big hits like : BATMAN, TERMINATOR (SERIES), SPIDERMAN, DAY AFTER TOMORROW, JURRASIC PARK, TITANIC, Then the classics like, Casablanca, Cleopatra, Ten Commandments….crazy na?

There’s no medicine for a brain disorder like their’s. Single bloody theme for the last 50-60 years – Loving a girl/falling in love against all the odds

All in all, they dance something -but it’s not dance nor they’re dancers, They’re “Actors” – But they can’t do acting…there are many more things that they’re lacking, or simply don’t have a clue about it.

Enna solradhu, eppidy solradhu. Ennatha solly, enna panna. (What to say, How to say – What’s good, by telling)

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

Kollywood is not an industry…tis’ an abomination.

A festering pustule on the ugly derrieres of a few rabid philistines.

BTW, we too love Words Don’t Come Easy.

  5. singgakutty   August 19, 2009 at 3:19 am

have listened to the songs.. and i expect this from the movie..

    – shreya trying her best not to wear anything during the entire songs

    – a intro song, after a fight..

    – some punch dialogues here and there

    – comedies here and there which is not related at all to the storyline

    – happy ending..

and movie review on sun tv will show people coming out from the cinema after first day first show, saying ‘pattu super!’, ‘padam super!’..

    i expect this!

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

You write: comedies here and there which is not related at all to the storyline

We have two clowns in Kanthasamy – Santhanam and Vadivelu.

  6. Albert Camus   August 19, 2009 at 8:37 am

I like the barrage of slangs in “Ithellaam Dooppu”.. other songs are forgettable, but not bad. picturization (very unlikely) may help change my view..

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

As Srinivas pointed out yesterday, the large number of screens (900 or that ballmark) on which Kanthasamy will be released may make quality less of an issue here than with Villu, Kuruvi, Aegan et al.

  7. arshadsod   August 19, 2009 at 10:09 am

mr singakutty, what do u expect from a tamil movie , even ur loved ajith or vijay movies will be in the same format, so don’t fool anybody here. the format u have given is apt for most of the vijay movies and not vikram movies, have u ever watched sethu, kaasi, pithamagan ?

Say me any vikram movie which has useless punch dialogues? Only in saami and arul he spoke punch dialogs , later he himself get rid off that . Just stop ur bashing baby.

BTW, SI santhanam was removed from the film ,only Vadivelu is there …

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    Santhanam has been removed?

Ah, the perils of relying on Wiki.

  8. navaraj   August 19, 2009 at 10:18 am

Pathetic!!!!! these are not songs, its not music!!!

A song is a culmination of heart-touching lyrics (not the crap from kanthasamy or any new kollywood movie for that matter) and soul soothing music. These songs are nowhere near the minimum standards for a good song.

The tune of “excuse me Mr.Kanthasamy” is bearable but the lyrics killed the song.

at present hooked onto “Dhan te nan” from Kaminey!!!!

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    1. You write: Pathetic!!!!! these are not songs, its not music!!! A song is a culmination of heart-touching lyrics (not the crap from kanthasamy ….)

    Strong views. πŸ˜‰

    2. You write: at present hooked onto “Dhan te nan” from Kaminey!!!!

    Us too. Us too.

Well worth the 99 cents we paid for it on iTunes. Listening to it again as we type now.

    3. BTW, we looked for Kanthasamy songs on iTunes but couldn’t find it.

Tried different spellings, still didn’t work.

Kanthasamy does not seem to be releasing in your area.

  9. arshadsod   August 19, 2009 at 10:23 am

WIKI is mostly unreliable , even vivek was mentioned in wiki for kanthaswamy but later they removed but they forgot to remove santhanam’s name.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

We wouldn’t go so far as to say mostly unreliable..sometimes unreliable would be more like it.

If you are 100% certain, you should remove Santhanam’s name from the Kanthasamy cast on Wiki in the table on the right.

But if you’re doing it, pl do it carefully so that the table doesn’t get messed up. We’d have done it but since we are on terra firma vis-a-vis the cast, we’ll let the experts take care of it.

I havent heard the songs, but I have read that Vikram himself has sung four songs. Are his voice and singing as good as his looks and acting prowess ?
Or has he been let down by lyrics and music ?

Either way, I am hoping that Kanthasaamy doesnt turn out to be a dud, like Bheema. An article in The Hindu said that the character of Kanthasaamy is like that of Robinhood. That’s a bit of a letdown.

This Vikram guy was awesome in Sethu, Anniyan and Pithamagan, and above average in masala flicks like Gemini, Saamy and Majaa. Not sure why he is settling for the villian’s part in Ravan (Hindi, made by Manirathnam, starring Abhishek Bachchan). Either way he towers over the bachhas of Kollywood and Bollywood.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

You write: Not sure why he is settling for the villian’s part in Ravan (Hindi, made by Manirathnam, starring Abhishek Bachchan). Either way he towers over the bachhas of Kollywood and Bollywood.

Vikram is settling for the villain’s, most likely for these reasons:

    1. It’s a Maniratnam film.

    2. The difficulty of getting an entree into Bollywood. A villain’s role is better than no role.

    3. The publicity of featuring in a high-profile film alongside stars like Aishwarya Rai and what’s her husband’s name?

  11. sumeshy   August 19, 2009 at 10:44 am

I will hear these today. In the meantime, the film crew did one thing good. They adopted a village for a period of 1 month and made it better. The producers spent money to make rest rooms, restructure schools, etc

Might have been only a small amount but yet a good gesture. Nothing to do with the movie but it was not a publicity stunt.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    Yes, decent gesture.

We also like the fact that Vikram conducts himself with decorum (at least as far as we know).

  12. arshadsod   August 19, 2009 at 10:55 am

SI, why r u keeping silent on kanthaswamy songs, songs have released sometime ago so u should give the verdict, its not good if u review the songs after the movie release.

BTW, AADHAVAN songs have been released today, i am hearing to those songs and i am kind of liking it .

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

You write: SI, why r u keeping silent on kanthaswamy songs

We do have our strong views on the songs and the picturization too (based on the little we’ve seen on YouTube).

But with the release so close, we wanted to combine it with the review.

  13. arshadsod   August 19, 2009 at 10:57 am

@sumeshy, during the movie launch they adopted 2 villages and during the audio release they adopted 30 villages, each village they gave 5 lakhs INR….

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

We’re skeptical they doled out Rs 1.5 crore.

That goes completely against the grain of our people.

A token amount we can understand but Rs 1.5 crore is still big money.

  14. arshadsod   August 19, 2009 at 11:00 am

@guruprasad, i think u have got some misleading information about Raavana , In tamil version Vikram is the hero and Prithiviraj is the villain, and in hindi version Vikram is the villain and Abhishek is the hero, so he is doing hero version in tamil to satisfy his fans and in hindi he is experimenting by doing villain role. Villain is on par with hero in Raavana/Raavan movie.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

You write: Villain is on par with hero in Raavana/Raavan movie

We don’t know about the movie but very true in the myth.

Raavan is a (very) larger-than-life character. Like Satan in Christianity.

No one in Indian mythology comes close. Certainly none in Mahabharat.

  15. arshadsod   August 19, 2009 at 11:10 am

SI , the 1.5 crores was not given only by the kanthaswamy producers, 30 different people from tamil film industry adopted 1 village each. Yes 1.5 crore is not enough but atleast something is going to poor. The story of kanthaswamy also resembles the same, vikram takes the money from rich people and give it to poor people.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    Thanks for the clarification.

BTW, we plan to see Vikram’s Anniyan again in a couple of hours.

  16. arshadsod   August 19, 2009 at 11:25 am

Enjoy watching anniyan, i will watch Pokkiisham (which got poor review from critics) in pirated DVD now ..

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

We’ll do a short post on Anniyan later today.

  17. Albert Camus   August 19, 2009 at 11:58 am

@guruprasad: Not sure why he is settling for the villianÒ€ℒs part
Many times the villain gets a meatier role.. remember Heath Ledger? (already one year gone since the release of TDK.. time is flying) .. Pasupathi in Virumandi.. where Kamal graciously let Pasu rule the movie.

But how can we be sure that Vikram is playing a negative character? imdb lists Abhishek as Raavana.

Vikram is going against poor Abhishek.. there are already reports that MR is unhappy with Abhishek’s performance..

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    1. You write: remember Heath Ledger? (already one year gone since the release of TDK.. time is flying)

Just purchased the Aggressive Expansion track (Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard) from Dark Knight at iTunes for our iPhone.

Worth the 99 cents, definitely. Playing in background.

    2. Vikram against Abhishek is no contest.

  18. shadowfax_arbit   August 19, 2009 at 1:29 pm

Mahabharata is a lot more interesting than Ramayana….

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

The cast of characters is more varied in Mahabharat.

  19. shadowfax_arbit   August 19, 2009 at 1:31 pm

    @Albert….
    imdb lists Abhishek as Raavana.

Yes, in this movie Raavana is hero. Seeta joins with Raavana in the end. Rama is not villain, but he is not the hero either. So in Hindi, Abhishek is Raavana (hero) and Vikram is Rama. But in Tamil version Vikram is Raavana (hero) and Prithviraj is Rama.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

You write: in this movie Raavana is hero. Seeta joins with Raavana in the end.

That’s an interesting take on the epic.

    BTW, here’s India’s latest Raavan – BJP’s Jaswant Singh.

  20. shadowfax_arbit   August 20, 2009 at 12:31 am

Watch “Kangal Irandal” song video from Subramaniyapuram in Youtube. It’s a lovely song, and you’ll definitely like it.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

Just watched Kangal Irandal. Decent song and decent acting.

But we’re tired of love. Surely, there’s more to life than love.

  21. pauldeleo   August 20, 2009 at 10:42 am

well..nothing to say about the songs..better not to listen to them..ces les mauvaises!!!

Susi ganesan has a very bad taste in choosing songs for his movies..the only song i liked in his previous films are of 5star..that raile raile oru nimisham song is still soothing…but hey.watch out for this guy!!he is not the usual perarasu type..i just booked the ticket [lucky πŸ™‚ ] and keepin my fingures crossed..

let’s c if all the hype lives in the movie…

note: this guy has made vikram to sing all the songs!! is n’t it a warning signal for music lovers??? but no bars on vikram..he did wat he knew..so no comments on him

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

Raile Raile Oru Nimisham is OK but the kid seems too bubbly. Did he have one peg too many?

  22. arshadsod   August 20, 2009 at 11:38 am

songs in kanthaswmay are almost funny and easy to sing so vikram gave his voice for the songs, and he did a decent job.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

‘Almost Funny’ is not a word we use often with reference to Bollywood or Kollywood songs.

    Sounds “Almost Negative,’ eh. πŸ˜‰

  23. arshadsod   August 20, 2009 at 11:48 am

funny means “simple easy going songs” which are relative good and easy to sing.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    OK.

  24. arshadsod   August 20, 2009 at 12:28 pm

BTW, can u post the right timings of US and India and what is the time difference ? i always gets confused with the timings .

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

On the East Coast, we’re 9:30 hours behind IST. Add another 1, 2 and 3 hours to Central, Mountain and Pacific time zones respectively.

Right now, it’s 12:36PM in New York (i.e. ET), so that would make it 10:06 PM in India, 9:36 AM in California, 10:36AM in Denver and 11:36AM in Chicago.

  25. arshadsod   August 20, 2009 at 12:40 pm

    thanks for clarifying .

  26. Albert Camus   August 20, 2009 at 2:32 pm

Should Arshad be aware of the Daylight saving too? I think he is too excited about his dreamhero’s movie.. may not understand it.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    Funny.

We thought of it but didn’t want to take the discussion off on a tangent.

  27. boopalanj   August 20, 2009 at 4:01 pm

    Songs are no great.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

Haven’t seen movie reviews yet…though the mobvie has already released in the Gulf (according to some SI readers).

  28. arshadsod   August 21, 2009 at 8:52 am

Si , nowadsy the quality of tamil movie songs is dipping and most are outright theft from some englsih songs, i kindly request u to start reviewing the movie songs before the movie releases.

Plz, it will be nice if u start reviewing the songs, u can start with AADHAVAN songs.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

You write: it will be nice if u start reviewing the songs, u can start with AADHAVAN songs

We’ll listen to it in a day or two.
