Blue Box Office – Himalayan Disaster for Akshay Kumar

Blue Sinking at Box Office

What a frigging disaster.

You ask what.

Honey, we’re talking about the U.K. box office numbers for Blue, the turd-pile masquerading as a movie.

At the U.K. box office, Blue has fared worse than Akshay Kumar’s previous horror shows Chandni Chowk to China and Kambhakkht Ishq.

Pitiful. Pitiful. But then what can you expect from clowns.

Here’s how Blue has fared compared to other prominent Bollywood movies in UK:

Is there any chance of recovering the 100 cr money spent on this film ? 😀

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    Hard to say.

Only the producers/distributors know for sure.

But with so many critical reviews and presumably bad word of mouth, it’s going to be tough.

In these hard times, who are the insane folks that entrusted 100 cr to a novice ?
I am still trying to figure that out.

    Off topic:
Just finished watching Rangeela (1995, Aamir Khan,
    Urmila and Jackie Shroff).
    I just love this movie.
Good performances, fine music, and a different feel altogether.

If you can ignore the dance moves, this is a strongly recommended movie.

Directed by Ram Gopal Varma (before Satya), this is a beaten-to-death-genre (love story), but Varma brings freshness, class and a fine touch.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

Urmila Matondkar looks yummelicious in the Yaire dance/song.

    Very seductive. 😉

Addictive song. Have already listened to it twice in the last few minutes.

    We haven’t seen this movie.

    Will watch it shortly.

A.R.Rahaman composed music first time for a Hindi movie exclusively, in Rangeela.
There are some fabulous songs, although the movie could have done without at least two of them, which appear in the movie when you dont want them.
The music is a high point of the movie.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

Strangely, Apple iTunes doesn’t have the most famous song Aire…Rangeela Re although they have the older song with a similar name by Lata.

    SI,
    http://movies.indiatimes.com/News-Gossip/News/Katrina-Akshays-girl-in-Blue-sequel/articleshow/5149401.cms

Blue Sequel is being planned. Another 100 cr will be washed down the drain.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

If this one turns out to be a debacle in all geographies, they may not do it.

Even the Indians are not that stupid to make a sequel or prequel of a flop.

  5. sumeshy   October 22, 2009 at 5:47 pm

SI, there are far more stupid people back home and that’s why this news has come up.

Blue will be celebrated a commercial success in India like how kambhakt ishq was hyped.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

If UK B.O. numbers are any indication, Blue is a mega-flop.

With Bollywood, you can’t trust them for the time of day.

All those hyped up ‘success parties’ are just show biz.

    [Trash talk]

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

Use polite language if you want your comments published here.

Come back with a grovelling apology. Comprende.

(BTW, we need credible links not your fantasies.)

    Now, scoot.

Hmm,so lesser openings than Kambhakkt Ishq (Aboove avge. grosser.) itself, no question of recovering the investments!

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

But we’re sure Akshay Kumar will soon announce a party to celebrate the ‘success’ of Blue. 😉

  8. sganeshkumar1989   October 23, 2009 at 2:05 pm

Akshay seemed to have admitted that Blue is a failure.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    Interesting.

Is Akshay saying his last four films were flops (see last para of story in above link).

God, how many people this shameless fella must have screwed out of their hard-earned money.

Oh well, Akshay Kumar and shame are strangers to each other.

Heard the songs of the Saif-Kareena starrer, Kurbaan?

The songs sound good. Not exceptional, but most certainly, worth humming. Check this song out, its called Shukran Allah. Impressive stuff.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

Looks like a movie in the style of Fanaa, New York et al.

Didn’t get a thrill out of the song. Maybe, the picturization will be nice.

Saw the previews of this movie the other day.

  10. elnino.aurora   October 23, 2009 at 5:37 pm

Interesting to see the gap between the weekend gross of Jodhaa Akbar and Race.. 4 pounds 😀

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

Going by the above depressing BO numbers for Blue, somebody could take a hit.

  11. elnino.aurora   October 23, 2009 at 5:39 pm

You should check out the song, Tanha Tanha from Rangeela. That is THE song. Everything right about it 🙂

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

The girl is a bad dancer.

Positively crude…Well, that should keep the vulgus amused.
