Halloween Count – 29 Kids Turned Up

It’s 7:57PM ET and only 29 kids turned up for the ‘Trick or Treat’ candies this year.

Over the years, we’ve seen a gradual decline in the number of kids coming out.

Maybe, the kids are scared of the bogeyman or is it the Swine Flu outbreak that makes the parents wary of sending the children outside.

The number of homes that have lights outside – a signal for the kids to stop by – is also very few this year.

It’s 7:59PM now and we’re shutting off the lights.

We had none and it wasn’t any different last year! Parents are worried about safety – London is a dangerous city, right?

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    Not one? Too bad.

Maybe, it’s different in the smaller places.

A few years back we ran out of candy and had to rush out to get another bag. Not so, lately.

It’s not just that. When I was growing up, we all used to walk door-to-door for miles, without any parents watching us.

Nowadays, the kids that do come by, 99% of the time don’t walk but are shuttled from house to house in their parents’ cars, presumably because they are all paranoid that someone is going to snatch away their precious little baby.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

At this rate, we’d be surprised if any kids turn up at all in a few years.

Only 2 preteen girls came without elders.. rest all were accompanied by elders. Only 3 mommies were hot.. I liked the desi devil mom, the best.. short black leather skirt.. wowee! noone wore the bollywood item dancer dress 🙁

    @longname
London? Those people don’t celebrate Halloween. do they..

that is if the London you are talking about is not
    London, Arkansas
    London, California
    London, Indiana
    London, Kentucky
    London, Minnesota
    London, Ohio
    London, Richland County, Ohio
    London, Pennsylvania
    London, Texas
    London, West Virginia
wondering which one of these is the biggest London.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

Except for one sulking black kid, who seemed most disinterested and behaved as if he were here under duress, and a black girl would had her cell phone glued to her ears (really, no kidding. Somebody ought to get her a Bluetooth), the other kids came with their elders.

    No desi kids.

Got dark so quickly here that we couldn’t ogle at the mommies properly (mostly, they stood away from the house on the road). Some of the mommies appeared to be in Halloween costumes themselves.

Arya haha. I remember my friend showed that sh*t to me in college telling that it is a blockbuster etc. He had to wake me up twice while watching it. Awaiting your review for the movie. Sure it’ll reflect my thoughts…

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

We’ll start on the Arya review after our brunch.

Poriyal on the stove…smells nice. 😉

    London, England.

Watched some scenes from Iruvar on TV and it seemed decent.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

We’ll try to get to Iruvar this evening after the Sunday NYT and Rangeela.
