    off topic

    Hi,

Remember me!! I am posting in this blog after a long gap of about 5 months. As I earlier told,I could not devote full time to this blog and left it because I was studying.

Now at least,I can heave a sigh of relief. But really there is no relief from the hot weather of Chennai touching around 37 degree centigrade everyday. They made my life more difficult by keeping the exams in the afternoon.Believe me,the heat at around 2 a.m. is so unbearable.IF you do not drink enough water, you will collapse!! I hope you are enjoying much better climate in US. Do not ever come to India now, the heat will get you!!

    cheers,
    Arun

Yes, we do remember you sweetie! Howdy.

The weather here is quite pleasant. As per our iPhone, the temperature outside right now at 9:53AM ET (i.e. 7:23PM IST) is 66F (19C).

Weather here is usually not an issue unless you are driving in snow, sleet or flash flood conditions although there are occasional reports of sun-strokes.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

In your list, we’ve watched E.

    Here’s the pre-SI blog review of E.

It’s 1:27AM ET on Sunday morning and we’re so sloshed it’s an effort to even type without errors.

Sadhu Mirandha was a really funny film, from what i remember. It was directed by Siddique [director of Friends] and there are some scenes which remind you of Friends.
Having said that, this film has Abbas, and SI doesnt like Abbas (neither do i) so SI wont watch it, i’m presuming. And also Siddique also directed Bodyguard (which our Ilaya Thalavalli is remaking), which SI also didnt like very much.

      SearchIndia.com Responds:

We’ll see if we can get Sadhu Miranda here.

      BTW, we haven’t seen Bodyguard.

      • trishna147   May 20, 2010 at 9:49 am

well here’s a review of Bodyguard if you want:
        http://www.nowrunning.com/movie/6217/malayalam/bodyguard/review.htm

and speaking of Malayalam Films, have you seen Manichitratazhu yet?

And, when Raavanan releases, will you watch the Hindi version or Tamil version?

        SearchIndia.com Responds:

        1. Manichitratazhu? Not yet.

        2. You write: when Raavanan releases, will you watch the Hindi version or Tamil version?

        Dunno yet.

        Hopefully neither. 😉

omg, look what i just read:
          http://www.indiaglitz.com/channels/tamil/article/57153.html

how can he be at peace now, huh?
finally, he can quit acting! that article made my day 🙂

          SearchIndia.com Responds:

If the bozo had any shame, he’d find a new vocation.

          But Vijay is above/below shame.

    Hi SI,

A few days ago,Ajithkumar (yeah the one who you call as a monkey) tried to create a sensation by saying two things.

    Quote1 :

“Tamilnattuku perumai serkamal naan saaga maten”(Translation:I will die only after something which makes Tamilnadu proud/happy,till then I will not die).

First, this I will interpret this quote in context. He does not mention that he will make TamilNadu proud by good acting or something like that. This because his films are not going to the Oscars for any awards in order for him to make Tamil Nadu proud!!Anyways, the Oscar Committee will become unconscious if they watch even a scene from his film. So, for what purpose did he say this?

Actually,he participated in F1-car racing tournament along with Narain Karthikeyan and Arman Ibrahim.Do not get me wrong,he did not shoot for a car race film or something,he did the real thing. It is quite an another matter that finally he came only 11th place out of 15 contested. It is also quite an another matter that he participated in this race after a period of around six long years!!He thinks he will be winner in the car race atleast,if not in the film world!!

The next quote, also from him, makes an interesting read:

    Quote2:

“Inimel mattaman padangalil nadithu rasigargalai ematha maten(Translation:Henceforth from now onwards,I will not disappoint the fans by acting in poor,B-grade,low-quality films!!)

We hope that he keeps the promise and delivers good films.Actually, unlike Vijay, who has never shied from doing masala movies, Ajith has done some realistic and good films.

His films like Kadhal Mannan,Kireedom silenced even harsher critics of him.He proved in these films that he can also be a good actor/performer!! I hope that his next film with Gautham Menon will be good to prove again that he could be a good actor. But,I have considered him as either an average or a below-average actor.I sincerely hope that he changes my opinion by doing good films in the near future!!

    Cheers,
    Arun

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

You write: I hope that his next film with Gautham Menon will be good to prove again that he could be a good actor.

Ha ha ha, Ajith and good actor are mutually exclusive terms and can only belong in two separate sentences.

Our stars don’t have the fire in them or the ability to deliver good performances.

For the most part, these fellows, be it Ajith, Vijay, Surya, Simbhu, Vombhu, Kombhu et al, are just coasting along.

As we’ve said countless times, any other place but India these bozos would be laughed off the stage/screen.

    HI Si,

    In the same link:
    http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Entertainment/Regional/News-Interviews/Vijay-hits-back/articleshow/5968714.cms

    I read the following line:
The film is rumored to be a remake of Nagarjuna’s Telugu hit Azad (released way back in 2000), which was inspired from Amitabh Bachchan’s 1989 flop Main Azad Hoon, which was in turn a carbon copy of Frank Capra’s 1941 classic Meet John Doe!

Wonder how many time they will remake the same Frank Capra classic. Also wonder how the remake in Hindi which was a carbon copy could be a flop and the Telugu film could be a hit!!

I could visualize you being angry with what Iam going to say now,but it is the fact!!Normally,if a film is made, a director could hold the rights of the film for only a period of about 20 to 30 years. If the film is made by another director as a remake of this film during this stipulated period, then the director has to purchase remake rights for the film!!If the film is made after 20 to 30 years, there is no need for a director to either purchase the remake rights or ask for permission to remake the original.People can remake it in this case as it is permitted by law!!Only when it is within the stipulated period, and permission is not sought, then it is illegal.

Also audiences have no problems with watching a remake film or “inspired” film. They only think whether it is good or bad, and whether it conforms to the Indian sensibilities. If and only if it is a scene by scene copy of a Western film and has too many Western sensibilities, they reject it!!

But as you said regarding films like Saroja or Sarvam, that it is a theft, it is perfectly acceptable argument as the films made should be original and refreshing.Thefts like these indeed are a bad sign to the film making process. But what Venkat Prabhu or Vishnuvardhan have done is perfectly legal and if films like these do run well,do not blame the audiences!!Blame the copyright Act.I agree that some stricter provisions should be introduced in the Act.

If there is something wrong in the technical aspects that I have just written, please correct me!!I read these reports about the process of Copyright Act in the newspapers,so the blame go to the newspapers as well,if there is any mistake on my part. The Copyright process of Indian films is what I have written now.I do not know whether it is different for Hollywood films or the same!!

    Cheers,
    Arun

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

You Write Above: Normally,if a film is made, a director could hold the rights of the film for only a period of about 20 to 30 years. But what Venkat Prabhu….have done is perfectly legal

Even if we assume that you know what you are talking about regarding Copyright Act, keep in mind that Judgment Night was released in 1993 and Saroja in 2008. That’s less than 20 years.

Venkat Prabhu’s Saroja is Pure theft, plain and simple.
