    A lot has been said about Sachin’s walk after being given not out. Indian media and ex-cricketers like Sunil Gavaskar have been singing paeans to deify sachin as the nobler than the rest and purer than virgin.

    > Did Sachin walk? Yes; Was it noble? Yes;

    Let us broaden the horizon to 22 years and then review…

    > Has Sachin walked in the past? Yes; Has Sachin always walked? NO! Many times he has waited for umpire to decide even when there was an obvious nick.

    Has Sachin refrained from appealing when he knew the batsman was not out? NO!

    Will Sachin walk in the QF/SF/Finals in a similar situation? Would he walked if UDRS was not used? I am almost certain he would have stood.

    Why did Sachin walk? Only he knows the truth. In my not so humble opinion he walked because it was an insignificant match, WI would have reviewed and the decision would have been reversed (he does not have the benefit of the replays to decide how hard it was to detect the nick). Maybe he also felt that it would have shown him in bad light but i don’t think that was his first thought.

    Sachin is the one of the best things to have happened to World cricket. As a cricketer, he is a true gentleman on and off the field. But, even Sachin doesn’t mind the slice of luck once in a while. It evens out the bad decisions against him.

    Why did Sachin walk? At this stage of his career with all those remarkable achievements, we think he’s likely peering into the future as to how history will view him in totality.

      I don’t think anybody should walk. Let the umpires do their job.

      SearchIndia.com Responds:

      Exactly.

      If you strongly believe the umpire is wrong, then ask for a review.

      As we said earlier, he probably did that with an eye on future biographers and writers.
