Gangnam Style – 532m Views, Going Strong

Korean rapper PSY’s Gangnam Style music video is already the third most viewed video on YouTube.

I think the “Dress Classy and Dance Cheesy” video is nonsense, albeit amusing nonsense.

But way more entertaining than Dhanush’s Kolaveri junk.

By the way, is there an Indian parody of Gangnam Style?

Recently Eric Schmidt did the gangnam-style dance with his colleagues.

When IDC releases its next quarterly Tablet market share data we’ll know if and how much Eric’s Gangnam dance helped. πŸ˜‰

I saw the video, couldn’t watch it fully because I didn’t like it much. However, can’t call it junk, it is somewhat catchy.

As for your comment that it is better than Dhanush’s junk Kolaveri, I would beg to disagree. People like you and me can call it garbage and whatnot, but let’s not forget that we are among the minority. Eventhough that song had nonsensical lyrics, it was catchy and viral and ended up captivating many people than anyone can ever imagine.

Heck, it did some good at least for me as I landed upon this guy’s videos:

The person singing is Arjun, a british-singalese tamil, who makes good remakes of Indian songs, Btw, he has also composed some very good songs and sung it himself.
Never seen someone make a great remake out of a nonsensical song and make it meaningful

Here are some of his songs, watch it if you find time.

I am sorry, but your first statement is wrong. I check Youtube alltime stats and found that Kolaveri is still the third highest viewed video…with 63,090,197 hits…

Kindly correct me if I am wrong. Were you referring to the 3rd highest viewed video for the weekl/month?

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    1. Good lord, since when did 532 million become less than 63 million?

Is this the New Tamil Math? πŸ™

    2. Sweetie, we’re referring here to the 3rd most viewed video on YouTube ever!

Of the 20 most watched youtube videos in India, 12 of them related to b grade movie sex scenes ,considering sex is taboo in India ,this is sm what surprising. hope the day would come when there’s no censorship in india,

      SearchIndia.com Responds:

I think as broadband penetration improves in India, rape and other crimes against women would fall because youngsters would be too busy mastur**ting while watching online porn.

you said “I think as broadband penetration improves in India, youngsters would be too busy mastur**ting while watching online porn.”

And what poor government says is, that it would help students get better education, maybe they meant sex education ;).

By my knowledge most teens use internet mostly for porn, after all india is among the top ten countries searched for the term “sex” and other porn related terms according to google trends http://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=sex&cmpt=q

        SearchIndia.com Responds:

I’m inclined to the rather unconventional view that watching a skin-flick is preferable to sitting through your average Bollywood, Kollywood or Tollywood flick.

In the U.S., there used to be theatres specializing in these films (some with three screens). Not sure, if they’re still around.

The War against Drugs, Porn, Prostitution and Greed is an exercise in futility.

“By the way, is there an Indian parody of Gangnam Style?”

    I don’t think it’s far.

Btw, I saw an fb photo doing the rounds. It shows a group of guys dancing in lungi with the title “Otha Gangnam style” πŸ˜›

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    Not surprised. πŸ˜‰

If there is something catchy or popular then bollywood isn’t too far behind.

      SearchIndia.com Responds:

Is it true that Prabhudeva choreographed Psy’s Gangnam Style dance?

Prabhudeva was spotted in Gangnam District of Seoul around the time the video was made.

N.B.: I’m starting this rumor, so please, please say “Yes.” πŸ˜‰
