Even Abhishek Can’t Screw Dhoom 3

I have always believed the presence of Abhishek Bachchan, anywhere within 50-miles of a film set, is enough to doom the movie to perdition.

Abhishek and class in movies are immiscible, kinda like oil and water.

But having watched the trailer of Dhoom 3, I don’t think even Abhishek will be able to do much damage to the movie.

Going by the videos I’ve seen on YouTube, the movie looks like it has the making of an interesting spectacle.

What do you folks think of Dhoom 3….What are your expectations?

Down with fever and his mates.

Otherwise, I would have watched DHOOM 3 by tomorrow at nearest theatre. Also planning to watch “Thalaimuraigal” by Balu Mahendra, which is due to release tomorrow.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

There’s been talk of decent advance bookings for Dhoom 3 but hard to believe anything to do with Bollywood given that PR people are overacting in planting stories.

Hasn’t Balu Mahendra been in the “Living Dead” category for a long time.

On Balu Mahendra, you had plans of watching sathi leelavathi, didn’t you?

      SearchIndia.com Responds:

      Did I?

I will one of these days!

Yes, but his assistant, Sasikumar, is doing bery well at Box office as an actor. So, he decided to invest in his guru’s project irrespective of movie’s nox office outcome.

Also, given the low budget cost of “Thalaimuraigal”, I won’t be surprised if movie recovers it’s cost, in limited theatrical run.

    • boopalanj   December 19, 2013 at 10:07 am

Yes, but Thalaimuraigal is said to be a possible inspiration of a Korean movie called “The way home” (something I’m planning to watch).

      SearchIndia.com Responds:

Screw Balu Mahendra, I will watch the Korean film in 3 or 4 days.

I’ve added The Way Home to my Netflix account & moved it to the top.

Speaking of Korean stuff, I’m going through the Jun Ji-hyun a.k.a Gianna Jun phase of my life. πŸ˜‰

Finished “The way home” just now.

Seeing your eagerness, I too managed to get hold of the movie somehow and watched it now.

        SearchIndia.com Responds:

Alas, we don’t have super-fast movie subscription services in the U.S. πŸ˜‰

I’m a huge fan of Korean movies and soaps.

          Here is thalaimuraigal trailer:

          http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m37Zh9VP8oo

If you’re wondering who that old man is, it is balu mahendra.

But I’m satisfied with “the way home” and I don’t want to watch this above one.

          SearchIndia.com Responds:

At the age of 8, I was not sure of the difference between my pee-hole and a**hole.

But at the age of 8, Balu Mahendra came up with a movie script. πŸ˜‰

Thalaimuraigal talks about the relationship between a grandfather and his grandchild. The director reveals that he came up with the script when he was 8. β€œAll I had to do was to recollect those moments and put it on paper.

    Btw, Please check your email.

    1. Sweetie, I’ll do American Hustle.

    2. Please go ahead with Biriyani.

But don’t set your hopes too high. πŸ˜‰

Just watched the “dhoom3” trailer above.

Does anyone else get reminded of “Now you see me” and smell possible similarities or is it just me?

      Madmax?

      SearchIndia.com Responds:

Even there’s a resemblance to Now You See Me, I’m sure they have Bollywoodized it!

Dhoom 3 was shot (partly) in Chicago.

One of SI blog readers Naveen met the stars – Katrina & others – during the filming.

      • Naveen   December 20, 2013 at 1:42 am

Dhoom 3 was extensively shot in Chicago…

The lead stars were there for nearly 3 months.

      • Madmax673   December 20, 2013 at 2:54 am

There was a scene in “Now You See Me” that reminded me of a car crash scene in “Bourne Ultimatum” as well.

With the cards, yes. I can see where you make that connection.

SI said: I have always believed the presence of Abhishek Bachchan, anywhere within 50-miles of a film set, is enough to doom the movie to perdition.

I’d like to add Shahid Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Uday Chopra, both the Khans (Aamir is ok), and whole bevy of the B’wood cesspool into this list.

Only exceptions are Naseruddin Shah, Anupam Kher, Jaya Bhaduri, and sometimes Budda Bachchan.

BTW, heard that Dhoom 3 tickets are costing Rs. 900 back home per person. And all theaters sold out. For a family of 4, w/ samosa and chai, it would be Rs. 5000 affair.

Phww. some folks don’t even make that money in a month…. πŸ™ high imbalance in society.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    Rs 900 per ticket?

There should be rioting on the streets at this injustice!

I can understand if Onion costs Rs 900 per kg in India but a Bollywood movie ticket costing Rs 900.

Go get my gun, Pancho! πŸ™

N.B.: My friend in Hyderabad has a driver who gets Rs 3,000 or Rs 3,500 a month.

BTW, for viewers in the US, you can actually get tickets for Dhoom 3 as low as $1.25 via fandango.com/freetickets. And, no, I’m not talking about torrent or any other cheap downloads. This deal is for watching in AMC, Cinemark theaters etc….

These “free” stuff always come with some big catch. πŸ™

SI said: “These β€œfree” stuff always come with some big catch.”

    – That is because most of the so-called free stuff is not meant to be free anyways πŸ™‚ One of the few things you can get absolutely free in the world is Advice, especially from SI on all matters under the sun and under your underwear πŸ˜›
