Holy Christ, even that johnny come lately Ranbir Kapoor is better than Abhishek ‘flop‘ Bachchan at the box office.

The U.S. box office that is.

Ranbir’s new film Anjaana Anjaani has grossed over half a million dollars at the U.S. box office in its October 1-3 opening weekend.

The movie released in 91 theaters and had a respectable average gross of $5,688.

Here’s how Anjaana Anjaani fared at the U.S. box office compared to a few prominent Bollywood films:

Folks, here’s some good news.

Salman ‘criminal‘ Khan’s latest crappy film Dabangg has crashed at the U.S. box office.

Hell, the movie couldn’t even hit the $300,000 mark in the second weekend here.

And to think that the clowns in India are making such a big ado about this nonsense.

Here’s how Dabangg fared at the U.S. box office in the second weekend compared to a few prominent Bollywood films:

Dabangg Box Office – Falls 53% in 2nd Weekend

Despite all the ugly publiShitty stunts the Bollywood criminal Salman Khan engaged in (including sucking the Paki dicks by describing the 11/26 Mumbai terror attacks as overhyped), his new movie Dabangg has failed to set the box office on fire.

The U.S. box office, that is.

Dabangg – Crappy Movie
Take for instance Salman Khan’s new film Dabangg.

By any yardstick, the movie is a piece of trash.

Describing it as garbage, plain and simple, the wise souls at SearchIndia.com wrote:

The singular achievement of the sophomoric troika of actor Salman Khan, producer Arbaaz Khan and director Abhinav Kashyap is that with Dabangg they have reduced Bollywood to the level of those trashy Tamil films where a maniacal hero runs amok beating all and sundry to a pulp when he’s not making eyes at a buxom belle.

Ugly as Hell
Folks, Dabangg is not a movie so much as expulsion of one long, foul-smelling fart that completely vitiates the surrounding atmosphere and jarringly echoes for the full length of the film.

Devoid of anything remotely resembling a story, destitute of any logic and deprived of decent music, Dabangg is a sound slap in the face to Bollywood and Salman Khan fans….

According to media reports, the movie is off to a rocking start in India.

Not surprising since anything so rotten finds eager takers there. Isn’t that why we call the country Incredible India. ;)

But in the U.S., the film has not been a killer at the box office.

Say what you will but sometimes desis in the U.S. prove that they are far smarter than the schmucks back home in India. ;)

For the September 10-12, 2010 opening Eid weekend, Dabangg could manage only a total gross of $628,137 with an average of $10,131.

We are Happy.

You wanna know why?

Because chutiya Bollywood film We are Family has right royally been buggered at the box office.

The U.S. box office that is.

Shitty Performance at BO
In the September 3-5, 2010 opening weekend, We are Family could not even do $300,000 at the U.S. box office.

All that this shitty film could manage was a terribly low $296,907.

But then We are Family’s poor box office performance is hardly surprising considering how bad the movie was and the negative reviews it garnered both in India and the U.S.

This trashy movie was unworthy of being released on the big screen. Maybe, at Kajol’s private baby-shower party but definitely not in theaters. ;)

Folks, as the wise souls at SearchIndia.com said in their exemplary review of this piece of trash:

Not so much a movie as cow-dung flung on the screen, We Are Family suffers from intolerably hideous acting, incomprehensibly awful screenplay and insanely bad music….

Guys/Gals, if you take a soldering iron to your balls or boobs you’re likely to inflict less pain on yourself compared to watching this piece of shit called We are Family.

Here see for yourself in the below table how badly We are Family has fared in the September 3-5, 2010 opening weekend: Continue reading »

Karthi, the younger son of the Jillu Jillu, Gullu Gullu tail-less monkey Sivakumar, may be a decent actor but box office returns from his movies are not so decent.

We found Karthi’s latest movie Naan Mahaan Alla, which opened last Thursday in the U.S., to be a watchable flick but Tamil film audiences have not exactly stormed the box office. The U.K. box office, that is.

Naan Mahaan Alla brought in a meager £17,508 in the opening weekend at the U.K. box office and notched up an average gross of £2,918 after debuting in six theaters.

As you can see in the below table, Karthi’s previous film Paiyaa released in the same number of theaters but did better.

Here’s how Naan Mahaan Alla fared compared to a few other prominent Tamil films Continue reading »

Peepli Live has not set the box office here on fire despite Midget Khan aggressively promoting it in the U.S.

Aamir Khan left no stone unturned in promoting his production Peepli Live, supposedly a satire centering round a media circus on an Indian farmer’s proposed suicide to get government benefits.

The heavy promotion notwithstanding, Peepli Live could pull in only Continue reading »

Ajay Devgn is a nonentity in Bollywood unless he has the presence of other strong players alongside him (like for instance Ranbhir Kapoor et al).

Say, look at the below table and tell us if Ajay Devgn matters at all:

Even kids like Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor are doing better than Akshay Kumar at the box office these days, so much better .

In the second weekend at the U.S. box office, the kids’ I Hate Luv Storys did more business than Akshay’s Khatta Meetha in the second weekend.

Folks, the second weekend U.S. box office numbers of Khatta Meetha tell a sorry tale.

Hell, who would have thought kids’ BO numbers would be passing Akshay chacha.

Going Downhill
Akshay Kumar seems to be going the way of that other Bollywood flop Salman Khan.

So, has Akshay’s stock fallen lower than Imran Khan/Sonam Kapoor. It’d be hard to disagree, right

Please see for yourself why Akshay is the new Salman/Abhishek:

Some SI blog readers came in their jetties at the mere mention of Madrasapattinam and hailed it as an exceptional, classy film and in the same breath damned Thillalangadi as a piece of shit.

Well, the makkal theerpu (people’s verdict) is different.

Folks, the Tamil makkal have spoken and spoken decisively in favor of Thillalangadi.

Tamil movie fans, who were reluctant to whip out their wallets for Arya’s Madrasapattinam, seem to have found Jayam Ravi’s Thillalangadi more to their taste.

This means that Thillalangadi has fared significantly better than Madrasapattinam at the box office, UK box office that is.

Jayam Ravi’s cup of joy overfloweth since Thillalangadi did better than his earlier movies Peranmai and Santosh Subramaniam
