Nandan Nilekani is Co-Chairman of Indian software powerhouse Infosys Technologies. An engineering graduate from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai (Bombay), Nandan Nilekani is also one of the co-founders of Infosys. For about two decades, Nandan Nilekani toiled in the shadow of Infosys' more charismatic founder - N.R. Narayana Murthy, who is now Chairman of the Board and Chief Mentor. During the mid-1990s, the media savvy Nandan Nilekani was at times given to impulsive actions, heedless of the consequences. But age and experience seems to have mellowed him into the role of a senior statesman of the Indian software industry. Nandan Nilekani was appointed Co-Chairman of Board of Directors of Infosys in May 2007. Prior to assuming his current position, he held the post of Chief Executive Officer, Managing Director, President and Chief Operating Officer. Nandan was listed as one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time Magazine, 2006. In 2006, Nandan was conferred Padma Bhushan, one of the highest civilian honors awarded by the Government of India. The Nasdaq-listed Infosys provides software services and consulting to the Fortune 1000. The Bangalore-headquartered company has over 69,000 employees. |
