ABCD

ABCD, or American Born Confused Desi, is an expression that refers to children of Indian immigrants in the U.S.

The expression takes its roots from the supposed cultural confusion that these children experience as a result of their exposure to two very conflicting cultures - the conservative culture at home and the permissive American culture outside the house.

With the growth of the Indian population in the U.S., it's a common sight to see ABCDs (both boys and girls) at malls, Hindu temples or at theatres showing Bollywood films in New York, New Jersey, Los Angeles, Sunnyvale, Santa clara, Atlanta, Chicago, Houston and elsewhere.

ABCD is also the title of a 1999 movie made in the U.S.
