Named after Christopher Columbus, Columbus Circle is the first traffic circle in New York City and in the United States.

Construction of Columbus Circle was completed in 1905.

Designed and created by Italian sculptor Gaetano Russo, the monument in the circle is the point from which distances to and from New York City are measured.

Located at the intersection of Broadway, Central Park South, Central Park West and Eighth Avenue in New York City, Columbus Circle is also home to major Manhattan attractions like Time Warner Center, Trump International Hotel, Trump Towers and institutions like John Jay College of Criminal Justice, Fordham University, New York Institute of Technology and the Ethical Culture Fieldston School.

A New York landmark, Columbus Circle was renovated in 2005.
