 Times Square, New York Times Square is also the venue for New Year's Eve ball drop. The New Year's Eve celebrations at Times Square were started in 1904 on the roof of One Times Square tower by Adolph Ochs, the owner and publisher of The New York Times. Though the New York Times moved out of One Times Square in 1913, the tradition of celebrating New Year's Eve at One Times Square tower continues.
