Kyun? Ho Gaya Na
Reviewer's Summary - Balderdash

Written & Directed by: Samir Karnik
Producer: Boney Kapoor

Screenplay & Dialogs: Rajesh Soni, Milap Zaveri, Tushar Hiranandani & Vivek Oberoi

The only redeeming element of this inane love story is that Aishwarya Rai looks celestially beautiful.

Diya Malhotra (Aishwarya Rai) and Arjun (Vivek Oberoi) are two studies in contrast. Diya is an adorable girl - helps out in an orphanage, is a serious college student giving her exams and more - in contrast to the happy go lucky and selfish Arjun (Vivek Oberoi) who seems to be frittering away his time.

Diya firmly believes that love is life itself and won't even consider an arranged marriage while Arjun thinks love is all balderdash and deceit and is ready to let his parents select a bride for him.

Cupid plays its mischief when Diya moves to Mumbai and stays with her father's friend Khanna (Om Puri), his wife Meenakshi (Rati Agnihotri) and their son Arjun while preparing for her exams. Lo, before Diya knows it, she is in love with Arjun. Cupid's arrow, though, seems to pass Arjun by.

Amitabh Bachchan is good as the orphanage head Uncle Raj.

Pyaar Mein Sau Uljhanein and No No Kyun Ho Gaya Na are two of the better songs.

Alas, even Sudeep Chatterjee's fine photography cannot salvage this dud. The movie is shot in the verdant, coffee-growing Coorg region of Karnataka in South India. - Copyright SearchIndia.com.
