Lage Raho Munna Bhai is a disappointing comedy because it has few good laugh lines.

Making a good comedy is no joke. Seriously, a comedy requires far more effort than an action film, tragedy or even a horror flick.

The laugh lines are very few in Lage Raho Munna Bhai because director Rajkumar Hirani seems confused as to whether he is making a comedy or a sequel to Richard Attenborough's Gandhi.

Hirani's grave folly is to mix two incompatible genres of films - comedy and a moral story. It's hard to get laughs out of the audience when you are pontificating Gandian virtues of truth and non-violence in a comedy.

Lage Raho Munna Bhai is also a poor sequel to Munnabhai MBBS (also directed by Rajkumar Hirani), which had far more punch lines.

In fact, Lage Raho Munna Bhai's dialogs is one of the weakest links dragging down this movie.

Lage Raho Munna Bhai comes with just one solid plus - on the acting side.

Vidya Balan demonstrates yet again (after Parineeta) that beauty and acting can indeed go together and are not mutually exclusive as they usually are in Bollywood films. This is a star who will shine luminous long after the Aishwaryas, Kareenas and Priyankas lose their luster and fade from memory.

If Vidya Balan's performance was a treat in Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi and Boman Irani are the cherries embellishing the fine treat.

If Lage Raho Munna Bhai deserves any praise at all, it's for the jaw-dropping performances of these four talented actors. We are convinced beyond rebuttal that Sanjay Dutt's forte is in comic roles.

Lage Raho Munna Bhai is the story of a local goon Munna Bhai (Sanjay Dutt), who is completely smitten with Radio Jockey Jhanvi (Vidya Balan). Every morning, he's glued to her "Good Morning, Mumbai" program.

Ably supported by his sidekick Circuit (Arshad Warsi), Munna tries to win Jhanvi's heart by pretending to be a history professor living life according to Gandhian principles.

To win the lady of his dreams, he initially resorts to chicanery but inspired by Gandhian ideals confesses his true identity to Jhanvi. His confession only earns him a resounding slap and separation from Jhanvi, who's very upset over his deceitful behavior.

As the Mumbai builder Lucky Singh, Boman Irani is delightful to watch. Lucky's nice relationship with Munna goes for a six when he takes over Second Innings, the building Jhanvi lives in with a bunch of old men.

Dia Mirza plays the role of Lucky's daughter Simran effectively.

Lage Raho Munna Bhai's music will not stop you in your tracks. In fact, none of the songs did anything for us.

Fans of Abhishek Bachchan will be pleased to see him in a cameo towards the end of the movie. - Copyright SearchIndia.com.
