A beguiling love story that launched the Bollywood careers of Hrithik Roshan and Amisha Patel.

Rich girl Sonia Saxena (Amisha Patel), the daughter of Saxena (Anupam Kher), and poor singer and car salesman Rohit (Hrithik Roshan) are in love.

But destiny deals the young lovers a cruel hand when Rohit is murdered after watching a crime committed by Saxena's friend Shakti Malik (Dalip Tahil).

Sonia is heartbroken and to get her mind off the tragedy, her father packs her off to New Zealand for a holiday.

And lo behold, in New Zealand Sonia comes across a Rohit lookalike in Raj Chopra (Hrithik Roshan again). Raj falls for Sonia immediately but his affections are not reciprocated. For every time Sonia sees Raj, she's painfully reminded of Rohit. So, she packs up her bags and returns to India.

Not easily deterred by unrequited love, Raj joins her on the plane and no sooner do they land in India than the bad guys start shooting at them mistakenly believing that Rohit is still alive.

To draw out the conspirators behind Rohit's murder, Raj and Sonia spread the word that Rohit is still alive and organize a big music show.

Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai's music is passable but doesn't really linger after the movie ends. Our preferences were for the following songs Dil Ne Dil, Kaho Naa Pyar Hai and Janeman Janeman.

The movie gave a big boost to Hrithik Roshan. But his co-star Amisha Patel was not as impressive. The pretty lady needs to hone her acting skills.
