Mr.India is that rare Hindi film that deftly weaves the shop-worn five songs-four dances-three fights Bollywood formula into a grand spectacle.

Yes, Mr.India has all the songs, fights and dances that you are used to. But it also offers much more in the form of an off-beat story, delightful music, tight script and fine acting.

Arun Verma (Anil Kapoor) is a large hearted poor young man, who has taken in a whole bunch of orphans into his house. Into this chaotic house walks in crime reporter Seema (Sridevi) as a tenant.

Arun's father had discovered a special formula that renders a person invisible unless seen through a red glass before his murder by agents of the evil monster Mogambo (Amrish Puri), who is after that formula.

As part of his grand plan to create mayhem in India via bombings, robbery and other crimes Mogambo's henchmen try to evict Arun and his brood of orphans from their house. As Arun ponders his hapless situation, his dad's friend (Ashok Kumar) points him to a bracelet that when pressed renders him invisible.

Wearing that bracelet, Arun now takes on Mogambo and his evil gang as Mr.India. Soon, Seema falls in love with Mr.India little realizing that he is the same Arun.

Sridevi is at her seductive and sensuous best in that fine rain dance-song Kaate Nahin Kat Te Yeh Din. The song has been so beautifully picturized as to keep the viewer entranced.

Other songs that are pleasing include Zindagi Ka Yahi Reet Hai.

Director Shekhar Kapur has delivered an entertaining drama in Mr.India. - Copyright SearchIndia.com.
