Hollywood Movies We’ve Watched Lately

3:10 to Yuma – A must-watch Western set in Arizona in the years following the Civil War.

If you missed this fine movie at the theatres, you can see it on DVD (Netflix or Blockbuster in the U.S.).

Russell Crowe throws in a remarkable performance as the leader of the outlaws, Ben Wade.

Christian Bale (of Batman fame), who is tasked with getting Wade on the 3:10 train to Yuma prison, is disappointing in contrast.

Nice twist at the end.

Bucket List – So-so comedy of two terminally ill-patients – the billionaire Edward Cole (Jack Nicholson) and auto mechanic Edward Carter (Morgan Freeman).

Given that two of our favorites Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman feature in Bucket List, our expectations were sky-high.

While both Nicholson and Freeman do a commendable job, the story does not provide scope for great histrionics. The name of the movie comes from a bucket list Carter makes in the hospital of things to do before kicking the bucket.

Nice line from the movie - If life has taught me anything, it’s that 95% of the people are always wrong. – Jack Nicholson’s character Edward Cole in Bucket List.
