Consumer electronics chain Circuit City is pulling down the shutters and kicking out 30,000 employees on to the streets.

The ailing consumer electronics giant is liquidating.

Over the years, we’ve purchased many products from Circuit City including PCs, TVs, Cameras, software, CDs, DVDs, vacuum cleaners (they once sold that too), music systems and more.

James A. Marcum, vice chairman and acting president and chief executive officer for Circuit City Stores said:

Regrettably for the more than 30,000 employees of Circuit City and our loyal customers, we were unable to reach an agreement with our creditors and lenders to structure a going-concern transaction in the limited timeframe available, and so this is the only possible path for our company,

We’ve seen so many electronics chain stores close – Good Guys, Computer City, CompUSA, Montgomery Ward, The Wiz et al. Less competition is definitely not good for the consumer.

Circuit City had knowledgeable employees initially but lately the stores Continue reading »

This Amitabh ‘Big Mouth’ Bachchan fella is a strange creature.

The guy just can’t stop bitchin bakwas (nonsense).

This clown can’t act. His son wouldn’t recognize acting if it slapped him in the face. His daughter-in-law is clueless in the acting department.

Bachchan Sr doesn’t know diddly about the movie business (or for that matter politics, organizing shows et al either).

Bachchan Sr profits from theft. Some of the movies Bachchan features in like Ek Ajnabee, Hum Kissi Se Kum Nahin, God Tussi Great Ho are outright theft of Hollywood movies.

Yet this shameless Bachchan bozo goes around bitchin bakwas about stuff he knows nothing about.

This time the Bachchan bakwas is about Slumdog Millionaire, one of the finest movies to come out of India in recent years.

Here’s an excerpt from Bachchan’s blog on Slumdog Millionaire:

If SM projects India as Third World dirty under belly developing nation and causes pain and disgust among Continue reading »

Confirmed – Chandni Chowk a Mega Box Office Disaster

Chandni Chowk Review – Slit Your Wrists, Akshay

A bevy of critics has hammered Akshay Kumar’s new movie Chandni Chowk to China, which released in theatres around the world today.

Here’s a look at excerpts from some of the reviews:

Hollywood Reporter:

“Chandni Chowk to China’s” 2 1/2 hours of shouting, gesticulating, pratfalls and groin kicks will leave viewers with an MSG headache.

Warners’ first foray into releasing a Bollywood film in the U.S. — on a record 125 screens — is likely to disappoint connoisseurs of both Indian and Chinese genres and pull in modest boxoffice results.

IndiaFM:

CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA is an unbearable masala fare that insults the intelligence of the moviegoer.

The problem with CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA is that it lacks a watertight screenplay to keep you glued for those 2.45 hours. Agreed, you don’t look for logic and reason in hardcore potboilers, but the least the director and his team of writers could do is provide loads of entertainment. Sadly, writers Shridhar Raghavan and Rajat Aroraa make mincemeat of a plot that had the potential to woo viewers from Chandni Chowk to China to Chicago to Cape Town.

So, what’s the verdict then? Enjoy Chinese food instead. This one’s a big, big, big letdown!

….On the whole, CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA is a brilliant opportunity gone appallingly wrong. The film falls way below expectations and is a major disappointment in all respects. At the box-office, the hype might translate into a bountiful weekend, that’s it. Thumbs down!

NDTV:

Advani and his writer Shridhar Raghavan in an attempt to give us a full-on entertainer sacrificed logic, plausibility, characterisation and even coherence.

Chandni Chowk to China is so slapdash Continue reading »
