    Yes, we could feel sometimes as BSOG&S.

    Acquiring the worst of God?
    Isn’t God supposed to be the personification, purest form of ONLY GOOD and Satan the otherway round.
    Where is question of worst in God?

    Logic yengeyo vodaikudhey … summa oru rhymingikku sollitaro?

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    Given the present state of the world, it’s hard to believe that God is supposed to be the personification, purest form of ONLY GOOD.

    Here’s Araj’s full comment (Jan 14, 2009) in full:

    Coolfrog_20 wrote: “…tamil films are what they are because that is what tamilians want. Rural tamil nadu is stridden with poverty and oppression. They like rajni and vijay cos they want to be them…….”

    I would like to debate more on that point but unfortunately I don’t have time. But the diagnosis of the escapist mindset and the deep-rooted apathy of the indian audience wouldn’t be as simple as that, I guess, simply because abject poverty, like you say, still doesn’t explain why our well-heeled NRIs or bulk of the rich resident indians for that matter, who are hardly immiserized, manage to get a kick out of the abomination/affront called indian cinema.

    I feel our sense of being oppressed goes much deeper than mere physical poverty. It is as if the collective soul of our race is so terminally infected by a sense of intellectual mediocrity that we, somehow, subconsciously abhor anything intelligent, complex and empirical. Our escapism does not simply denote a ‘desire to escape from misery’, rather, it betrays our desperate and fanatical adherence to spurious moral ’simplification’ of Life, which, perhaps, is a mutated offspring of the majestic ’spiritual idealism’ we’d inherited long back(is it what f****d us, actually???). At times, i feel, we, the Indians, are bastard sons of God and Satan, acquiring the best of Satan and the worst of God…..

    Is that Arjun, the worst actor in the Milky Way.

  4. mihi_rex   March 12, 2009 at 3:06 pm

    Actually, ‘Captain’ Vijaykanth would be the worst actor in the Milky Way. I guess that makes him the dark spot in the milky way?!

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    Actually, we were considering only humans earlier.

    As far as I knew , Satan killed 10 and Abrahamic God killed a million.
    Did coolfrog_20 mean that Indians should become more aggressive and wipe out more people?

    (I have so much time this afternoon, i thought I should make a frivolous comment . Actually I didn’t like the quote . I don’t know whether the poor mythical Satan is evil or not but humans made him so. )

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    If Satan is no more than a reflection of humans in the mirror, …… Go figure the rest.

    @araj
    Although I am intimidated by your complex sentences, I feel like picking up a fight today.. being a Friday.

    Can you please come out and say which is the movies you liked in the past 2 years..

    What the hell is the sentence below supposed to mean??

    It is as if the collective soul of our race is so terminally infected by a sense of intellectual mediocrity that we, somehow, subconsciously abhor anything intelligent, complex and empirical.

    Are you implying that our race abhors intelligent movies?

    There is nothing wrong with escapism.. And the escapist mindset is not exclusive to Indians.. Did you note how well “Slumdog Millionaire” do in America.. I can give lot more examples from Hollywood, but you are already know them. I do like both type of movies.. but when I am tired, I’d rather watch “Live Free or Die Hard” than “Rachel Getting Married”(which I still haven’t watched).. A similarly the hard-working people in India like to watch “Sivaji” rather than “Anbe Sivam”..

    Escapism more fun than elitism, which is what your thinking seems to be bordering on. You seem to imply that rich people should only like non-escapist movies.

    There is nothing wrong with masala/escapist movies.. Most guys(including me) have been programmed to like action, skin and comedy.. many women want melodrama, romance and shitload of tears..
    And some people love porn..

    I love porn, but unfortunately it is infested with silicone.. so I stay away from it..
    It is as if the collective soul of the most porn-lovers is so terminally infected by a love of plastic boobs that they, somehow, subconsciously love anything natural, soft and small. Oops, did I just indulge in plagiarism that araj abhors so much!

    And the movie makers look at making money by targeting those people.

    Unfortunately
    Money is the main driver.. A good example: A guy like Sundar C, who is capabale of making decent movies like “Anbe Sivam” is acting in a shitload of trashy movies.. And those movies do well in the so-called “B” centers.. if he is able to make easy money by doling out trash, why does he have to take all the pains of making Anbe Sivam and get burnt. Look at “Acting” section of his filmography

    @Stitha
    I meant no such thing. What made you think like that?
    @SI: If Satan..
    Curse Zoroaster /Zarathustra as I always say.
    “Zarathustra was the first to consider the fight of good and evil the very wheel in the machinery of things…. Zarathustra created this most calamitous error, morality…… his doctrine, and his alone, posits truthfullness as the highest virtue” -Friedrich Nietzsche, Ecce Homo, “Why I am a Destiny”

    In the not too distant future, we’ll pick up Thus Spoke Zarathustra. Seems a bit forbidding. We’ll see.

    Scott Adams is a genius and he know hypnotism to boot.

    Just finished reading this. 132 pages in one stretch. Apart from the few errors in the chapter on evolution(less complex organisms do evolve from more complex ones and the like), an interesting read. If you are susceptible to suggestions/hypnosis like me, you will believe that
    a) You are an idea person
    b) You are a 4th level person
    Let me know if I am right.

    (from the doctor’s office)

    We’ll read it in about four days.
