IndiaÂ won the Twenty20 World Cup final beating arch enemy Pakistan by five runs in a nail-biting finish this evening inÂ the South African city of Johannesburg.
Batting first, India ended up with a modest 157 for five wickets.
The highlight of India’s batting was Gautam Gambhir’sÂ fine 75 scored off 54 balls with eight boundaries and two magnificent sixes.
AlthoughÂ Pakistan had a modest score to chase, it crumbled under the Indian bowlers’ onslaught and ultimately could manage only 152 runs when the final wicket fell.
The highest scorer on Pakistan’s side was Mishab-ul-Haq with 43 runs to his credit.
Joginder Sharma took the final Pakistan wicket handing India a richly deserved victory.
