FEMA Buffoons Bumble Again

Remember FEMA, the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency clowns who botched up the Katrina relief operations?

Well, the FEMA buffoons are at it again, doing what they do best – Making an ass of themselves.

In the latest incident, the FEMA bozos organized a fake press conference the other day to discuss the California wildfires where their own staff posed as reporters and lobbed softball questions at the agency’s Deputy Director Harvey Thomson.

In its story about FEMA’s latest antics, the Washington Post had a brilliant headline FEMA Meets the Press, Which Happens to Be . . . FEMA.

Here’s a snippet of the fake press conference from the Los Angeles Times:

Are you happy with FEMA’s response so far?” someone asked.

Indeed, the deputy administrator was. “I am very happy with FEMA’s response so far,” responded Vice Adm. Harvey E. Johnson Jr.

Actually, the questions were being asked by FEMA staff.

FEMA’s bosses at Department of Homeland Security and the White House were furious.

Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman Laura Keehner said:

This is inexcusable and offensive, and stunts like this will not be tolerated or repeated. It was a lapse of judgment, and we find it offensive, and it won’t happen again.

Apparently, the press conference had been scheduled at short notice and no reporters showed up in person.

FEMA apologized for the error in judgment.

Heck of a job, Johnnie.
