Western Digital Debuts New Movie Streaming Box

Western digital has introduced a new digital media player WD TV Live Hub that can play movies and other personal content to any TV throughout the home.

Packing a 1TB built-in network hard drive, the new device is designed to play a variety of media file types including popular Full-HD 1080p video formats like .mkv, .mp4 and .mov.

An interesting feature is the ability to stream personal content to multiple rooms at the same time. This means that while the kids are watching a Netflix movie in the family room, mommy and daddy can see the family vacation slideshows in the bedroom.

Users can transfer digital media to the internal drive from shared folders on PCs and Macs on the network or directly from external hard drives, thumb drives, camcorders or cameras connected via one of the two USB ports on the device.

With the help of 3rd-party applications, content from the WD TV Live Hub can be streamed to iPhones, iPads or Android smartphones.

The device lets Netflix subscribers stream movies directly to the TV. WiFi access to content is through an adapter.

It also allows for Facebook integration, watching YouTube videos and listening to Pandora Internet radio.

You can buy the ED TV Live Hub at BestBuy stores in the U.S. or at Western Digital’s online store for $199.
