Rab Ne Bana De Jodi Crashes in Second Week

Shah Rukh Khan’s recent crapshow Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi has crashed 64.5% at the U.S. box office in its second weekend.

For the weekend of December 19-21, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi grossed a mere $326,641.

The Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma starrer Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi came in at No-20 with an average gross of $3,983.

A 64.5% crash in the second weekend does not augur well for a Shah Rukh Khan movie.

Here’s a look at how Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi has fared compared to some prominent Bollywood films in the second weekend at the U.S. box office:

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’s total gross from December 12-21, 2008 is $1.43 million, a piffling number for a superstar’s movie.

As we’ve said several times on these pages, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is utter garbage.

If you haven’t watched it so far, consider yourself blessed by Rab.

The movie to watch and enjoy is Slumdog Millionaire.

The U.S. numbers (above table) shows Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is not having a dream run in the U.S.

We are skeptical of the numbers coming from India.

The first week Box Office numbers in the U.S. for Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi were also not that impressive.

Movies rely on releasing the maximum no of prints and earning the maximum in the first week ….so Rab de and many others ….in financial terms is bound to be a hit …. most of the people would have watched it in the first few days ….considering SRK and Aditya Chopra combo …

What matters is repeat audience and also if the movie is good ….others would listen to word of mouth publicity and come to theatres ….that’s not happening ….credit goes solely to poor content …

Box Office figures from the second week onwards is the true barometer of any film’s success nowadays and not the total net gross

Correction – its not “total net gross” – its gross or net total (profit) .
