Luck – Box Office Gods Piss on Luck

Folks, God exists.

And he’s proved it by pissing copiously on the recent Hindi movie Luck at the U.S. box office.

A pathetic piece of shit, Luck has fared miserably at the U.S. box office.

For the opening weekend (July 24-26, 2009), Luck came in at No-33 and did a shameful $112,309, one of the lowest for a Bollywood movie since we began tracking box office numbers.

The average gross was simply awful – $2,496.

To get a sense of how badly Luck has done at the box office, all we need to tell you is that it did worse than Drona, Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic and God Tussi Great Ho (please see below table).

Imran Khan, do find a nearby well.

Some good news for you, Bollywood is now going to remake the Hollywood hit The Hangover. The desi version is gonna star Abhishek Bachan and Katrina Kaif. And even better news its going to be directed by “Singh is Kingg” fame Anees Bazmee. Looks like nothing is beyond Bollywood’s long tentacles. Responds:

Yeah, someone told us about it yesterday.

We haven’t seen The Hangover although we’ve seen the trailer a few times.

Until he improves his acting skills, Abhishek Bachchan will be the kiss of death for any movie.

Offtopic, watched 99 (2009 film) yesterday. Except for the lead actor and some specifics towards the end, liked it. Could have been edited more tightly though. Has a nice song too. Responds:

    We have the DVD.

We purchased $30 of Frozen Kebabs, Rasmalai, Toor Dal, Kulfi, Channa Dal, Upma Rava et al at the new Indian grocery store and the Punjabi lady added the 99 DVD to our bag free. Really.

Have yet to watch it though.

Well it was destined…;) She could have slipped you any of the thousands of crappy hindi movies but you got this. Now there isn’t any excuse. Its about betting in cricket, match fixing et al FYI and it got a lot of fav reviews (like that matters) including from NYT or NY Post-not sure which. Responds:

OK, we’ll watch it in a day or two (really).

Planning to skip Love Aaj Kal.

Just so you know, NY Post is a piece of tabloid trash, part of Murdoch’s arsenal of arse-wipes.

I just came across this via Priyanka Chopra’s Twitter page. It’s a Tweet from Karan Johar that will make you want to… do terrible things.

“back in the office…sitting with tarun who is going mad scripting dostana2!!!” Responds:

    1. If we were not in a soporific mood after a heavy cheapo Tex-Mex lunch at Jose’s Border Cafe (there’s one cheapo branch in Iselin too), we’d have been all fire and brimstone over the above news.

    2. tarun who is going mad scripting dostana2

Bet that ‘going mad’ part was literal not figurative. 😉

If the first version was sick, can the sequel be any different.
