Apple’s next generation tablet, the iPad 3, will start shipping in early 2012.
Rumors of the iPad 3 got a big boost with today’s report in the Wall Street Journal that Apple has already ordered display panels and chips for the device.
A key enhancement in the new iPad will be higher resolution Retina Display of 2048 by 1536 compared with 1024 by 768 in the current generation iPad 2.
The display size is expected to remain at 9.7-inch.
The iPad has been a wildly successful product for Apple.
In Apple’s last fiscal quarter alone, 9.3 million iPads were sold.
Rival tablet vendors like HP, Samsung and scores of others have been floundering despite price cuts. HP pulled the plug on its TouchPad yesterday just 49 days after launch acknowledging it had failed to win consumer acceptance.
Be warned though that the iPad is a highly addictive device that will lure you away from your PC, TV and, yes, p*ssy too.
You can watch live Indian TV channels screeching about Anna Hazare, delight in Shammi Kapoor prancing around in his inimitable style on YouTube on the iPad or catch a Netflix movie.
