Jai Ho, A.R.Rahman Wins Oscar

Allah ho Akbar. 

Indian music director A.R.Rahman made India and music fans across the world proud tonight by winning the Oscar for his work in Slumdog Millionaire.

This is the fifth Oscar for Slumdog Millionaire.

A.R.Rahman won the first Oscar of his career in the category – Best Original Score.

Rahman’s rivals for the coveted award included:

* The Curious Case of Benjamin Button – Alexandre Desplat
* Defiance – James Newton Howard
* Milk – Danny Elfman
* WALL-E – Thomas Newman 

A legend in his home country India, Rahman has delighted movie-goers there for over a decade since he shot into prominence for his work in the Tamil movie Roja.

Rahman is fondly referred to as the Mozart of Madras.

    How come you updated the best original song before you updated the best original score.. I only saw the announcement for Jai Ho only a few minutes back.
