Watching Satyajit Ray’s Charulata

We just received Satyajit Ray’s Charulata from Netflix.

Released in 1964, Charulata features Madhabi Mukherjee, Shailen Mukherjee and Soumitra Chatterjee.

The Bengali movie is based on Rabindranath Tagore’s novella Nastanirh (The Broken Nest).

Charulata is said to be Ray’s favorite movie. It was his 12th feature film.

After we finish the movie, we’ll have a full review of Charulata.

Update:

I do not consider the movie a masterpiece as some are inclined to.

Let me watch it again and then I’ll have a full review.

    Did you like the movie?

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

What’s not to like about this classic set in the late 19th century. We’ll have the review up by tomorrow (hopefully).
