Incredible India 18; Hell with the Girls, I Want a Son

Here comes the 18th instalment of Incredible India, with those only-in-India stories.

This edition of Incredible India will focus on the travails of the female sex.

Remember what you read below is merely a microcosm of what women and young girls across the country endure every day.

* A father of five girls upset that he had no sons threw two of them into the canal in Ghaziabad. One child was rescued but the other is believed to have perished.

Here’s an excerpt from the Hindustan Times story:

Fed up of taking care of his five daughters, a 32-year-old father threw two of them into Ganga Canal in Muradnagar, Ghaziabad.

Vinod Kumar (32), a small retailer, took his two daughters Monika (9) and Manisha (5) with him on Tuesday evening. Around 9.30 p.m. the police informed the family members that Kumar had thrown his two daughters into the canal, 2 kilometres from the house.

While Manisha was saved by a local boy, Monika’s whereabouts were not know. Police said  she is feared to have drowned. The police have arrested the father.

* Life is very hard for girls in India. A 15-year-old girl Imrana Hakim, in Tauri village of Ghaziabad who resisted gang-rape by four swines was doused with kerosene and set on fire. Yes, the 15-year-old girl died.

* In India, not even old age is security against being molested, raped or murdered. A 90-year-old woman in the Ganauli area of Ghaziabad was allegedly raped by a 22-year-old drunk.

* In India, you are vulnerable if you are a young girl too. An eight-year-old girl in Delhi was allegedly raped and murdered by her former tutor.

Folks, remember the above incidents happened in a short window of time in and around India’s capital Delhi.

Just imagine the heinous crimes that must surely be committed against girls and women in the vast hinterlands of India every day.

Mera Bharat Mahan.

I’m loosing respect for humans day by day . These type of incidents make my thinking still worser.
I used to shout (literally) whenever I read incidents of men raping 3 year old babies.

Now coming to this obsession for male babies – I don’t know why. Is it because of the Dowry? Is it because of the thinking that a boy would help the parents in their old age ?

Population just aggravates the problem . May be I(If I were a dictator ) should incorporate some kind of chemical substance in to all eatable salts rendering all men impotent.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

We could be wrong but we think girls are more caring toward parents as they grow up and as their parents grow older.

If Indians had any brains, they’d all hope for female babies.

Hi..I read your posts regularly especially the movie reviews as your taste in movies is quite similar to mine. I have however not relished it when you have used foul language while communicating your views on posts or when u reply to people.

That apart, I feel very happy when u post facts and opinions on the state of women even today. I think every one should read your post and look forward to having female children. As you rightly said, it is the girls who are more affectionate to her parents. There is another saying that a son is a son till he gets married but a daughter is a daughter forever.

We are yet to see a day when women are treated as individuals and not merely as objects of interest or slaves. I salute you for your thoughts, but as a woman I request you to also pay attention on the language that you use in your posts. Im sure your points reach people even without the taboo words. I hope you take my views in good spirits.

    Us using foul language?

Nah, you must be confusing us with some other blog or as Stalin (the real one, not the Tamil joker) often used to say, it must be the work of saboteurs. Let’s throw them into one of the Siberian Gulags.

    2. You write: There is another saying that a son is a son till he gets married but a daughter is a daughter forever

Very true. These boys are vetti shaniyan (jobless devils).

    3. You write: I hope you take my views in good spirits

Yes, we always take good spirits…Chivas Regal, Johnny Walker, Smirnof, Jameson…that’s why we are always in good spirits. 😉
