Old Hindi Songs We’re Listening To

Hindi movies and songs have given us the greatest pleasure among all the Indian language movies we’ve watched in a long life.

Here are some of the old Hindi songs we’re watching and listening to on YouTube these days:

* Mausam Ayega Jayega – Lovely song featuring Vijayendra Ghatge and an unknown babe from the 1979 movie Shaayad.

* O Meri, O Meri, O Meri Sharmilee – Is this the best Shashi Kapoor song? A classic. Jaanaeman Tu Hai Kahan?

* Gaadi Bula Rahi Hai – From the old Dharmendra movie Dost. Seen this one too but can’t remember the details.

* Chahiye Thoda Pyaar – Our favorite Vinod ‘Rajneesh’ Khanna song. This one is from Lahu Ke Do Rang, a movie we’ve seen.

* Zindagi Ek Safar – A beautifuuuul song from Andaz (Rajesh Khanna and Hema Malini). Our third favorite Rajesh Khanna song after Mere Sapno Ke Rani and Roop Tera Mastana.

* Kal Kya Hoga  – Without doubt, the best known song of Kareena Kapoor’s father Randhir Kapoor.

* O Meri Soni – See Zeenie baby and Vijay Arora in Yaadon Ki Baarat. Who hasn’t seen this movie.

    Nice one.

Did you know that Rajendra Kumar used to be known as the Silver Jubilee star.

Here’s another classic – Achcha to hum chalte hai (Rajesh Khanna, Asha Parekh).

i googled it…wow, all of these old stars have pretty detailed wiki pages.

wouldn’t it be nice if they played old hindi and bengali movies at selected theaters..?

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

May run in India but not here. They’d likely lose money, except maybe if they had a film festival kind of thing and ran it over a 4-week period…only on weekends. Just one show per classic.

Hey buddy, you missed out Kishore Kumar’s songs. I liked his songs- Mere Sapno ki raani kab aayegi thu from Aaradhana, and Khaike Paan Banaraswala from DON.
YOu must listen to Kishore Kumar’s songs. He is one hell of a singer.

You write above: YOu must listen to Kishore Kumar’s songs. He is one hell of a singer.

Beta, we’ve been listening to Kishore Kumar’s songs (most likely since before you were born).

We were reared on Kishore Kumar, Mukesh and Rafi.

We love Pyaar hua ikraar hua hai so much that a few months back we had a dedicated post on the song – Is this the Greatest Bollywood Love Song?
