Is Vimala Raman the Prettiest Tamil Actress Now?

Vimala Raman is one of the very few babes in Kollywood, who also shows some signs of acting talent.

As a bonus, this young lady from down under is also pretty unlike the Kollywood emetics like Trisha, Nayantara et al.

Recently, BehindWoods showcased a photogallery of Vimala Raman.

The photogallery contains a total of 16 pictures.

In some of the photos, particularly this one Vimala Raman Mahalakshmi madari iruuka (a Tamil phrase, which means to look as beautiful as a goddess).

In other pictures, she doesn’t look that great. Particularly in this picture, the lady looks like a tramp.

The dividing line between looking sexy and looking like a tramp is a fine one.

Alas, in this picture the lassie has crossed the line to the dark side.

Overall, the photogallery was not a bad deko.

Our first encounter with Vimala Raman was when we saw the Tamil movie Raman Thediya Seethai.

While the movie was most definitely not a pathbreaking film, it was not bad either.

One of the things that stood out in Raman Thediya Seethai for us was Vimala Raman’s performance.

We hadn’t heard or seen much of this lady until the release of the photogallery recently.

Moving into the big leagues of stars must surely be almost as tough as getting readers for a quality blog. 😉

Or maybe, Vimala Raman is grazing contentedly on the verdant pastures of Tollywood, Malluwood or Sandalwood these days.

as tough as getting readers for a Quality blog? Agreed.

But the link ‘quality blog’ is pointing to, is misleading 😉

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

Ah, maybe you were reading some other ‘naughty’ blog and confused it for the SI blog.

Can you also review other actresses in the future ?

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

Who do you have in mind?

Manorama, Sowcar Janaki, Jayalalithaa, Nirupama Roy…et al?

  3. boopalanj   June 5, 2009 at 4:09 pm

Hope SI does not become an ‘all-reviews’ site 😉

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    Oh, no.

We’ll always have eclectic content on SI.

Don’t forget the Dairy Queens of yesteryear…
Silk Smithas, Anuradhas, and the Hippo-likes-The Shakilas for their huge assets and the great investments made on them in the silver screens making it look stained during those bumpy era.

    Long live the screen.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

Silk Smitha, Nylex Nalini, Cotton Kamala, Rayon Revathi, Polyester Parimala, Chiffon Sheila, Rexin Radha.

God, we love ’em all. Silk’s untimely death was a grave loss to men everywhere.

Nights are no longer the same in Silk’s absence.

Here’s Silk at her revealing best.

Did you see the film Anantha Thandavam, based on the story PIRIVOM SANDHIPPOM written by the late writer Sujatha.

Heard it is a decent movie. By the the way, I have quit watching tamil movies except for some exceptional ones. I guess they are not worth even 10% of the 150+ bucks that I spend at Satyam. I suggest people select their movies carefully. The last two ones I watched were PAISA VASOOL movies. Watchmen and STAR TREK

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    1. Anantha Thandavam released here. For some reason that we can’t remember now, we skipped it.

    2. You write: I have quit watching tamil movies except for some exceptional ones

This alone qualifies you to be called henceforth as Solomon the Wise.

Seriously, 99% of Tamil film directors and actors are unworthy of remaining in the business. Look at the movies – Villu, Aegan, Thoranai.

I didn’t hear good things about Anandha Thandavam.

No denying that she is pretty, but Vimala was born in 1980.. grand old lady when compared to Tamanna/Sandhya(’89) or even Trisha (’83) and Asha (’84). So you have probably seen the last of her as heroine in Tamil movies.. I saw her in Poi.. her acting was horrible in that. surprised that she has improved in RTS.. She is so old that we may soon see her acting as Rajini’s mom.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

May we remind you that the appeal of wine, Taj Mahal, Abraham Lincoln, Mahatma Gandhi and Mother Teresa only improves with age. Ditto with Ms.Vimala Raman.

There is of course the strong possibility that the schmucks on Wiki typed 1980 when they meant 1990. A slight drift of the finger and 8 can easily became 9. Seriously.

As for Rajini, we are sure that his grandson will feature as his uncle in Manthiran, the n+1th sequel to Enthiran. 😉

  7. Aswin_Kini   June 8, 2009 at 1:40 pm

@SI: we already have a film named MANTHIRAN. A horrible film courtesy the old actor RAVICHANDRAN. His son was the hero in this film. As for the old man Rajini, heard he is gonna pack his bags and go to the himalayas forever.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    If only. If only….

vimala raman is not bad …but I would vote for PadmaPriya (Sathampodathey) …dusky , beautiful ,and acts quite well …

Vimala raman is yet to score on the acting front …

But my favourite from the current crop is Sneha ….unfortunately no skin show …hence she has lost out to others

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

Yes, PadmaPriya is good. Seen her in Satham Podathey.
