Music We’ve Recently Acquired – 2

Here are some of the Bollywood, Kollywood and Sandalwood tracks we purchased on iTunes lately.

99-cents each.

Made in India (Hindi) – Our favorite Alisha Chinai track.

Intaha Ho Gai Intezar Ki (Hindi) – Superb song (Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhosle et al) from the 1984 Amitabh Bachchan-Jayapradha film Sharaabi.

Vizhiyile Malarndhadhu (Tamil) – Sung by S.P. Balasubramaniam (thanks, mihi_rex), this is from the old Rajni film Bhuvana Oru Kelvikuri.

Purple Haze (English) – Our first Jimi Hendrix purchase.

Purple haze all in my brain
Lately things just don’t seem the same
Actin’ funny, but I don’t know why
‘Scuse me while I kiss the sky….

Oruvan Oruvan (Tamil) – Yes, Muthu is the film. S.P.Balasubramaniam is the singer.

Cheeni Kum (Hindi) – Nice Shreya Ghoshal number from the delicious Tabu-Amitabh Bachchan comedy Cheeni Kum.

Mere Bheegi Bheegi (Hindi) – One of our favorite Kishore Kumar songs, from the Sanjeev Kumar, Jaya Bhaduri film Anamika.

Aaj Ki Raat (Hindi) – A real sexy number from Asha Bhosle. Again from Anamika.

Naavaaduva Nudiye (Kannada) – A P.B.Srinivas classic from Gandhada Gudi (Dr. Rajkumar).

Endendu Ninanna Maretu (Kannada) – An all-time Kannada classic from the film Eradu Kanasu. P.B.Srininvas and Vani Jayaram are the singers.

guys, the song “Vizhiyile Malarndhadhu” was sung by S.P.Balasubramaniam not P. Jayachandran. Please do make the correction 🙂

Vizhiyile Malarandhadhu (Tamil) – Sung by P. Jayachandran, this is from the old Rajni film Bhuvana Oru Kelvikuri.

Oh! what a nice song. I also think that it was sung by SPB – Not Jayachandran. Will check and let you know.

There’s another that came to my mind just now.
Illangiliye, innum villangallaye, unnai thaluvida ninaivugal ondra renda, subha dharisanam pera vali ingey unda…Hello my sweety…don’t be so naughty, I’m so hotty, but I can’t help it sweety…. (Shankar Lal) Kamal+Sridevi (Sung by SPB+S.Janaki)

Henry Miller – Namma kitta ondum illa -we don’t have anything with us…(Tamil Rhyming)

Au contraire, we’re the hardly working kind.

Henry Miller is an interesting writer.

    Kinda rambling but unique.

You can see the amazing breadth of his reading and scholarship in his writing.

BTW, are you able to confirm that it’s SPB and Not Jayachandran for Vizhiyile Malarndhadhu?

SI: So far the SPB camp is leading 2-1.

Yes, it was his voice we heard mostly throughout late 70’s/80’s. He’s the one who provided us with good music. Jai Ho SPB!

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    True.

I found this in the very software that you use: http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?id=253189313&s=143441

    Another Source: http://www.rajinikanth.com/songs/bhuvanaorukelvikkuris.htm

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

You write above: I found this in the very software that you use….

We purchased the song from a different album Isai Gnani Ilayaraja: Forever Gold – Tamil Film Songs, Vol 1, which did not mention the singer’s name.

iTunes sometimes has the same song in multiple albums.

    Thanks. We’ve made the change.

    1. Eradu Kanasu has another fine song – Thamnam Thamnam Nanee Manasu

    2. Malligai En Mannan is superb. We tip our hats to M.S.Vishwanathan. We might buy Malligai En Mannan later today from iTunes.
