Acid Factory: Bad Ensemble or Good Ensemble?

Shilpa Jamkhandikar (Reuters):

Suparn Varma’s Acid Factory, which releases in cinemas this week has a unique feature – that of having the biggest ensemble of bad actors on a single screen.

Fardeen Khan, Aftab Shivdasani, Dino Morea, Dia Mirza, Danny Denzongpa and even the usually dependable Manoj Bajpai put in such atrociously bad performances that you wonder how they got away with it.

….If you want to save yourself heartburn in the middle of the festival season, do yourself a favour and avoid this disaster.

Taran Adarsh (IndiaFM):

Final word? ACID FACTORY is a well-crafted, well executed film with the ensemble cast pitching in competent performances.

….Every actor pitches in an effortless performance. They aren’t putting on an act. The film has an assorted mix of experienced and accomplished actors…..

On the whole, ACID FACTORY is a slick thriller that has an interesting premise and also super stunts and chase sequences as its trump cards.

The only way to find out.. we will send out sacrificial lamb a.k.a SI to the movies.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

Early reports speak of a poor opening for Acid Factory.

Shilpa J’s review is definitely more reliable.

Taran Adarsh is more of a trade analyst than a film critic.

I have rarely seen him criticise a movie.

Give him some crap movie, and he would still find something positive (positive according to him, that is).

Read Rajiv/Rajeev Masand’s reviews (called Masand’s verdict). Mostly makes sense.

Moreover, Acid Factory is a rip-off of Unknown (a 2006 Hollywood movie) (some reviewers have pointed this out).

Barring Irfan Khan, Manoj Bajpai and to some extent Danny, the rest are proven non-actors.

Dont waste $$ on this. Not even for loyal readers of SI.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

No way are we going to watch this.

That guy Fardeen Khan is the kiss of death for a movie.

    Horrendously bad actor.

We think they have a family competition among the Bangalore Khans – who is the worst actor. Fardeen and Zayed are tied now.

    Masand on Acid Factory:

It doesn’t help that Acid Factory comes with an all-star cast of jokers including Fardeen Khan, Dino Morea, Aftab Shivdasani and Dia Mirza who don’t bring a shred of credibility to their roles.

I cant help but say this, you cant expect a miracle when you cast independently bad actors into one movie! Its suicidal! One look at the trailer and you know it was heading down in the dumps!

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

Dia Mirza looks good, like our grandma.

Acid Factory is gender-biased. Shilpa Jamkhandikar is a lady I suppose. No wonder she didn’t like it. Why don’t SI the macho, watch and review the movie??

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

You write: Why don’t SI the macho, watch and review the movie??

    No way.

Fardeen Khan is the female Nayantara.

    Rombha Waste of body mass.

Taran Adarsh is not really a dependable reviewer…….he praised movies like Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi & Do Knot Disturb, while he ridiculed good movies like Dev D.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    Really?

Anyone who ridicules Dev D has to be a nut-case. Lovely movie.

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is a piece of shit.

I agree with Jeeka, Taran seems to be ‘kinder’ to movies with big heroes

must read Taran Adarsh review of Wanted …anyway ….Acid factory is slick …but like most of the hindi movies ….lacks a good script …so nothing to write about

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

He couldn’t stop heaping praises on Wanted, which BTW bombed badly here.
