India – A Many Splendored Land

It is the Land of Contradictions, the Land of Subtlety and Superstition, the Land of Wealth and Poverty, the Land of Splendor and Desolation, the Land of Plague and Famine, the Land of the Thug and the Poisoner, and of the Meek and the Patient, the Land of the Suttee, the Land of the Unreinstatable Widow, the Land where All Life is Holy, the Land of Cremation, the Land where the Vulture is a Grave and a Monument, the Land of the Multitudinous Gods; and if signs go on for anything, it is the Land of the Private Carriage.
– Mark Twain in Following the Equator Vol II, P.145-146

    Read the story a couple of hours back.

    If the media reports are accurate, the guy seems to have issues in the upper storey.

    One more justification for kids who fail to make it into IIT.

    @SI
    The girl was hauntingly beautiful too. Sad.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    The course of life is extremely unfortunate and very depressing for many people. More so in India.

    If this fellow is really mentally sick as the police claim, he could probably get away (although in the Indian setting, it’s not that easy and the policemen have likely given him the infamous ‘aeroplane treatment‘ already.

    Dr, you new nick sounds like a chemical equation. Interestingly there is no element A and D, but tungsten is W — ah, i still remember.. Element Dr doesn’t exist but Db (named after Dubya?), Dy and Ds exist.

    Sinha didn’t crack the IIT-JEE, he was a Ph.D… after getting his BS in some dubakoor university. so JEE-failees cannot use this as an excuse.

    Where is the 1/2-Engineer Aditya, the 1/2 Dak seems to be more talkative.. or typative.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    Excuses, none can beat our Indians. Even a remotely plausible excuse will do.

    Instead of a $900 Matinee Kimono show, we’d rather go for an Un-Kimoned Night show. 😉
