    @SI
    Not a good time to bring this up but did you know that Wasim (the politician) was interviewed shortly after 26/11 by an Indian news channel and he couldn’t hide (but he tried hard) his happiness!

    Then he has the nerve to come to India for treatment. Malayasia/Singapore/Middle-East are all prominent medical tourist destination, you know. Just saying..

    No, we were not aware of it.

    There’s a visceral hatred of India/Hindus among many Muslims (including unfortunately among some Muslims living in India who have no idea how lucky they are to be living in India and not under a dictatorship or a govt run by the whacko Taliban).

    2. You write: Then he has the nerve to come to India for treatment. Malayasia/Singapore/Middle-East are all prominent medical tourist destination

    India was not their medical destination. They were en route to Singapore for Huma’s treatment when the plane stopped at Chennai for refueling. Since Huma’s condition took a turn for the worse, she was brought in to Apollo for treatment.

    @SI
    Wow, don’t I feel stupid! Should have read the whole thing. Yup, he is not a hypocrite.

    Arrgh! Tried hard but couldn’t find any video to support what I said.

    All I found was this: http://www.dnaindia.com/sport/report_sports-cannot-be-governed-by-borders-wasim-akram_1220485
    I’ll dig some more.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    The paragraph with the Mixed Feelings sub-head from your above link is nasty.

    Wasim Akram says:

    I had mixed feelings when the siege unfolded. My first thought was that it was wrong — this should never have happened in the first place.

    So after the initial moments, did he feel different about the Nov 2008 attacks in India? Well, that’s the only conclusion a reader can come to although the rest of the piece seems alright.

    Unless, of course, he was misquoted by the journalist. The few Pakistanis we’ve met are not strong in English. So it’s possible that what Wasim Akram meant to say and what he ultimately said were not in sync.

    @ Dr.UnkHaf D. Aktar: he couldn’t hide (but he tried hard) his happiness!

    I am surprised to hear that..(are you sure that it is not some false propoganda.. would like to see some youtube coverage to evaluate it myself) I thought he was/is better (or atleast smarter) than that. He has helped(I think) Indian bowlers with improving their skills and his cricket commentary seemed(from whatever little I have listened) non-partisan.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    You might want to look at HalfDak’s previous comment. Includes a link from DNA.

    Still can’t find anything but I know what I saw. I also read some piece in The Hindu referring to this at a later date (couldn’t find that too), so I know I am not seeings things that aren’t there.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    We just did a quick check and couldn’t find any supporting video.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    This one casts Wasim Akram in a positive light.

    So unless we find corroborating video, we have to keep an open mind on the DNA piece.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    Other than the DNA link you provided earlier, we checked again but couldn’t find any other supporting text or video links.

    We’d be inclined to be a bit skeptical unless we see stronger evidence.

  9. Dr.UnkHaf D. Aktar   October 25, 2009 at 10:51 am

    @Vetti Jijaji
    Believe me, I was surprised too.

    He is a nice guy and that makes it even more surprising. I believe it was a momentary lapse.

    He is hurt that a lot of attacks are taking place in Pakistan (one even in front of the school in which his kids are studying) and there is a strong feeling shared by many in Pakistan that whatever wrong is with the country is due to CIA, RAW and MOSSAD in that order.

    “policy instruction” after one year?

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    Yes, the Indian govt’s action ‘after one year’ is the surprising part.

    Sorry for re-submitting. I thought the first one didn’t go through.
    @Vetti Jijaji
    Thats him back in 2003.

  11. Dr.UnkHaf D. Aktar   October 25, 2009 at 12:12 pm

    Oh God, now even I am not sure.

    After extensive reading, I am guessing it could have been him: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imran_Khan?wasRedirected=true
    This guy is a nut-case. But still no video 🙁

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    The only good thing that came out of the above link is we caught up with developments concerning that pretty woman Jemima Marcelle Goldsmith. 😉

    How could I do that? Really really sorry Wasim(and really really sorry guys-SI, Vetti), I mistook you for that Imran ‘nut’ Khan.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    Imran Khan too doesn’t seem to be gloating over the Mumbai attack.

    A lot of Republican, Right-wing nuts here believe in this Intelligent Design nonsense.

  13. Dr.UnkHaf D. Aktar   October 25, 2009 at 12:38 pm

    Wasim was never into politics like Imran. Somebody should have slammed me the moment I implied that. Really sorry. For all future references, my memory sucks.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    Perhaps, the Mixed Feelings remark by Wasim Akram in the DNA piece influenced you completely.

  14. Dr.UnkHaf D. Aktar   October 25, 2009 at 1:02 pm

    Maybe. I don’t know what happened but its Imran Khan alright. This guy is unbelievable.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    You write: but its Imran Khan alright.

    What does that mean because Imran Khan too does not seem to be gloating over the Mumbai attack in your links.

  15. Dr.UnkHaf D. Aktar   October 25, 2009 at 1:38 pm

    Not in that link but he is the most likely candidate.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:
