Quote of the Day – I Enjoy Crushing Bastards

Der Spiegel: You could have started a company in Silicon Valley and lived in a home in Palo Alto with a swimming pool. Why did you decide to do the WikiLeaks project instead?

WikiLeaks Founder Julian Assange: We all only live once. So we are obligated to make good use of the time that we have, and to do something that is meaningful and satisfying. This is something that I find meaningful and satisfying. That is my temperament. I enjoy creating systems on a grand scale, and I enjoy helping people who are vulnerable. And I enjoy crushing bastards. So it is enjoyable work.

    Excellent!

    India needs an Assange.

Ha ha ha, few politicians and bureaucrats would escape unscathed.

“Ha ha ha, few politicians and bureaucrats would escape unscathed.”

True. But would a “Assange” like person himself survive long before one or the other politician bumps him off.

Just google on how many RTI(Right to Information) activists get killed in India every year because they filed litigations in court that exposed corrupt officials, politicians, business men, benami men et al.

No, I would be seriously concerned for the life of any such “Assange” in India.
Anyway, these scum of the soil would do better with Anniyan rather than Assange, don’t you think? 😉

BTW, saw minority report. I’ve not seen Schindler’s List and Saving Private Ryan. But I still think it would have to be a stupendous film that could better this.

What A MOVIE!!! Emotionally powerful, technically brilliant and story-wise brilliant. You can’t ask for more.

      You must see it soon.

      SearchIndia.com Responds:

      1. We’ve been reading of these RTI activists being bumped off. We’re not sure if there’s been any outrage.

Not that outrage gets you anywhere there.

      2. You write: Anyway, these scum of the soil would do better with Anniyan rather than Assange, don’t you think?

Yes, but with one caveat i.e.vigilantism without all the fanfare and show.

      3. Will see Minority Report.

Bro ! you ain’t seen anything then…those are the two films that earned Mr.Hollywood his two oscars…SPR is bloody awesome esp for it’s intense high octane first 20 minutes…needless to say schindler’s list is a classic

          totally offtopic:

Saving Private Ryan….. is on my ‘to see’ list for a long time.
Was not ready for a B/W movie when ‘Jurassic Park’ was released.. but when I got to watch ‘Schindler’s list’ in 2003 , a whole 10 years after it was released, I was blown away. I was also sad to have missed it by 10 years.

Later I watched ‘Hotel Rwanda’ based on Incidents that shouldnt have happened. It had many parallels to Schindler’s list. But to think it was a very recent incident was what what affected me . 1994.. they had massacared a whole tribe and nothing was let out..

then came Munich.. 1972- Black September.. never heard of them.. was mind blowing, nerve numbing.. I browsed through the net for information.

then I look at tamil films.. and think what are they doing to such a powerful media.

          SearchIndia.com Responds:

          1. You write: then I look at tamil films.. and think what are they doing to such a powerful media.

Tamil films for the most part are hopelessly amateurish even when they are stealing.

Except the Cooumites, who takes these buffoons (including the so-called legends like Kamal Haasan) seriously!

          2. Watched Legend of 1900 yesterday.

Will do a short piece on it now if we can stay awake.

            thanx…

I think the movie has got some scenes that can never be repeated on screen. Thats what makes me revisit it again and again, almost once a year. for the piano duel, or the free moving piano. Just amazing that someone can even conceive of such scenes

            SearchIndia.com Responds:

In retrospect, we shouldn’t have watched the piano duel scene when you posted the link but we couldn’t hold our curiosity at bay. But even on the second watching, it was still good.

The free-moving piano with the two of them (1900 and Max) is one of the classic movie scenes. One for the ages.

Not a full review but we’ve done a short, combined post on Edge of Heaven and 1900 that should go live soon.

the famous!!? piano duel from ‘Legend of 1900’ music by Morricone.

    http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1631g_legend-of-1900-piano-duel_music

May (Will) make you buy the music.

If you plan to watch the movie Skip this.. you’ll enjoy it more when it flows with the story.

get the soundtrack of ‘La Leggenda del Pianista sull’Oceano’ and not ‘The legend of 1900’

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    Enjoyed it.

Will watch Legend of 1900 in 2 hours.

never heard of this movie.. “Tim Roth” piqued my interest.. but the direction and dialogues seem to be amateurish/banal(it was like watching a Sivaji Ganesan movie or something)… in the 15 minutes I watched here.

Haven’t started yet…got to drop off the Kindle at UPS first.

Off topic. Any plans of watching a bollywood movie this weekend??
My friend is persuading me to watch Once Upon A Time In Mumbai.
But watching Emraan Hashmi on a big screen is nightmare.
Being a long weekend and all the reviews being positive, I can’t find a proper excuse.
After Predator I am not going to ask you review anymore. But let me know in case you have any plans(Unlikely I guess).
Btw did you know that Let The Right One In is being remade as Let Me In.
Chloe(Kick-Ass) is the new Eli. That’s one herculean task.

Tough one, although Chloe is a decent actress. Also, Chloe may be too young for the role.

About a year back, we did a short post on Let the Right One In.
