Just hoping this email reaches you well. I’m presently in Spain on a
business trip. It was an urgent trip, so I didn’t even inform anyone.
Everything was fine until I got robbed on my way back to the hotel. Though
I’m fine and not hurt but my cards, mobile phone and my bag containing some
cash were taken away by these guys. I had to block my account and my bank
cards immediately the incident happened. I thought it expedient for me to
confide this in you and I will be glad to have it confidential with you. I’m
urgently in need of some money to complete my major aim of being here and to
balance my bills till my departure next weekend.

Can you please lend me a sum of 2600euros [approximately $3500 us dollars]
or any amount you can afford to lend me? I will refund you back upon my
arrival back home. if you would be able to help me out with the money or any
amount you can afford, kindly email me back so that I can forward you the
details required for the transfer the money via the western union money
transfer service. I don’t yet have a local phone (still gathering my
bearings and such), so email is probably the best form of contact for now. I
will expect your response soon.

Thanks & Regards

hare krishna.

Did you listen to the Sangakkara speech..

    http://soundcloud.com/sandakalum/20110704-lecture

As you are a Sanga fan, thought you may like it.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    Listening as we type this.

Thought of posting you the link of our favourite Mr. Eloquent, but முனிAndy is too quick….
I’ve never heard such a professional, emotive and inspiring speech with such a nuanced eloquence from a sportsman. Just proud to be a Sanga fan…..

    http://www.indianexpress.com/news/Mani-Shankar-Aiyar–s-e-mail-account-hacked–hacker-asks-people-for-money/474859

Looks like the same hacker(s) who buggered Mani Shankar Iyer (Fmr. Union Minister and Congress Leader from TN) way back.

From the link: It added, “I will be needing the sum of $3,500 to sort-out my hotel bills and get myself back home. I will appreciate whatever you can afford to help me with, I will pay you back as soon as I return.”

But, are they targeting only Iyers? Or Iyer’s passwords are so easy to be cracked?

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

What’s so sacred about $3,500.00 that different hackers/crooks are asking for it? A numerology connection?

Doubt they’re targeting Iyers. All is grist to the crooks’ mill.

And given that you had received the mail, you may be in the person’s address book, and it may be a known person to you.

      SearchIndia.com Responds:

Sure, we know many Iyers but Radhakrishna Iyer Ramasubramanian doesn’t ring a bell.

    • boopalanj   July 5, 2011 at 11:39 am

case 1: “I am sorry that I didn’t inform you about my travelling to England for a Seminar. “

case2: ” I’m presently in Spain on a business trip. It was an urgent trip, so I didn’t even inform anyone”

Look at the similarities between both!! I guess they all are using a common content 😉 drafted by one person (Or they outsourced the content preparation here, and they just copied and pasted).

And I was just commenting on the fact both being Iyers !!!

      SearchIndia.com Responds:

We see the Nigerian hand here. They’re the experts on these kinda scams.

By discussing lot of things in the form of comments (apart from posts), SI really becomes a knowledge base, doesn’t it?

Just was doing some search, and going through few comments in the older posts. May be you should write about comments (recalling them) in the past – that sparked up nice or ugly debates, that gave good information resource, or that were entertaining..!!! Will help you when you run out of topics or can’t go out to do reviews!!! 😉

        SearchIndia.com Responds:

You write: By discussing lot of things in the form of comments (apart from posts), SI really becomes a knowledge base, doesn’t it?

Hey, SI was always a polymath. 😉

Just kidding, the days when one could amass significant knowledge disappeared in the 15th century.

Yes, our knowledge of sports, Tamil movies, foreign movies and other varied topics has significantly expanded over the last few years thanks to y’all. Every comment, good, bad or ugly, is read by us before being processed.

Off-topic: Getting the French movie Amélie today.

        • boopalanj   July 6, 2011 at 12:06 pm

why does this list in wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_people_who_have_been_called_%22polymaths%22) not include T.Rajendar and Kamalhaasan ? 🙁

          Very sad. 😉

          SearchIndia.com Responds:

          Ha ha.

The only polymaths in our opinion are Leonardo Da Vinci and, maybe, Isaac Newton!

          • rama dasa   July 6, 2011 at 3:01 pm

the former wwf superstar the rock was an entertainment polymath!so was dean martin and jerry lewis

            SearchIndia.com Responds:

Really? Were they knowledgeable in different subjects?

          • rama dasa   July 6, 2011 at 5:05 pm

Singing, wrestling (the rock not the others) acting, you name it,everything of course except quitting smoking!(note that the rock wasn’t much of a smoker but the other two were, deano died from cancer) and jerry lewis is certainly NOT knowledgeable on how to lose weight!no offense to you intended jerry!

          • Naveen   July 6, 2011 at 11:25 pm

Comments on SI’s review of Dasavatharam, Unnaipol Oruvan and other reviews of Vijay provide much needed entertainment if not knowledge 🙂

            SearchIndia.com Responds:

Gosh, all that seems like it happened in a different century!

          • Naveen   July 7, 2011 at 12:51 am

SI – You are not in your elements lately. Your response to comments that usually get a bashing, have been very rather tolerant and polite. Have you embraced Islam (Peace)? 🙂

            SearchIndia.com Responds:

Yes, to some regular readers we’ve been showing the Softer, Sweeter side of SI even when our hackles have been raised.

Not to worry, the softer side is usually a short-lived aberration with us. 😉

          • Naveen   July 7, 2011 at 1:15 am

ha ha ha.. get well soon! 😉

            SearchIndia.com Responds:

            Phoenix-like, we’ve reemerged from the tar-pit.

All izz well, as they say in that idiotic film 3 Idiots. 😉

          • vjcool   July 7, 2011 at 1:35 am

Any release from our much hyped stars ,I think will find SI’s dark side.. waiting for a Vijay or Ajith release..

BTW have you watched, ‘How Green was My Valley’, was on DD eons back on the late night slot, watched it again from British library and it really was good and a nice transfer (to DVD) too.

            SearchIndia.com Responds:

            1. You write: Any release from our much hyped stars ,I think will find SI’s dark side.

Nope. Each movie and every ishstar on his/her merits.

            2. How Green was My Valley? Aware of it but No.

Latest nice movie we’ve seen – Amelie. Plan to rewatch it and then, maybe, review it.

Tomorrow, we’ll likely watch the highly acclaimed Of Gods and Men.

  4. Twig   July 5, 2011 at 1:41 pm

Please watch French Amelie only (with English or German subtitles). But don’t watch English dubbed Amelie.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

Just returned from our local public library with the 2-DVD version of Amélie. As she was handing us the DVD, the librarian mentioned it is a ‘very nice film.’

We popped the DVD into our player a few minutes back and we can assure you it’s a French movie with English and Spanish (not German) subtitles.

We’ll watch it after finishing the reviews of Delicatessen (French) and A Woman, A Gun and a Noodle Shop (Chinese) and listening to Kumar Sangakara’s address.

    Man, it’s 94°F (34°C) outside and feels like a cauldron. 🙁
