Quote of the Day – Queen Victoria

It is worth being shot at to see how much one is loved.

Queen Victoria after surviving another assassination attempt ( in 1882).

Victoria survived eight assassination attempts on her life.

Surviving great danger or coming through fine after a near-death experience is a great thrill that few people get to experience in life (in Mumbai, Salman Khan will create near-death and real-death experiences for cheap – Just buy him a Land Cruiser and a few bottles of scotch).

Winston Churchill, who went from his military cantonment in Bangalore to Afghanistan to participate in the Malakand battle in the late 19th century, had this to say on being shot at:

Nothing in life is so exhilarating as to be shot at without result.

Churchill saw war at close quarters as few other leaders did.

The only danger our leaders like Dick Cheney, George W.Bush, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama and Mitt Romney have ever faced in their lives is possible defeat in an election.

Given the easy access to guns to every whacko, it’s easy to get shot at with grave results in the U.S.

Off Topic: Did you catch the Olympics opening ceremony? Are you following it?

The Rowan Atkinson segment and Queen + Bond segment were good.
