It’s the miniature-golf version of New York, with Oprah standing in for the Statue of Liberty.

Most NYC Indian restaurants are bad but some like Aaheli are more bad than the others:
First, they said it was ‘South Indian Coffee.’
Then, after we discovered several cardamom pods along with dark coffee powder floating on the surface the yuck ‘South Indian Coffee’ became Nescafe.
Next, the flustered waiter waved his hand and morphed the ‘South Indian Coffee’ with cardamom into Indian Bru Coffee.
Shortly thereafter, the ‘South Indian Coffee’ turned into Mysore Coffee (apparently Aaheli’s chef hails from Mysore).
Finally, in what seemed like a farce from a bad-ass Bollywood movie our Telugu-speaking waiter Kiran Kumar Choudhury cozied up to us and declared sotto voce: Sir, I have worked in so many places including the Taj in India but I’ve never seen anything like this coffee. I won’t charge you for this coffee.
Forget about making a fine cup of South Indian Coffee, these Aaheli imbeciles wouldn’t recognize South India on the map.
Folks, we are sometimes ambivalent about mercy-killing but in the case of Aaheli euthanasia seems the best course to avoid this ugly repellent sore inflicting any more pain on diners and heaping further disgrace on itself.

Aaheli – Enemy of the Palate
Enemy of the Palate
We can’t more accurately describe Aaheli Indian restaurant at 826 9th Ave in New York City than to denounce it as an Enemy of the Palate.
Not in a thousand years will we be able to get over the embarrassment of inviting our Mudaliar friend to this wannabe Indian restaurant Aaheli.
Even by the standards of bad-ass NYC Indian restaurants, Aaheli stands out like a leprous sore. Continue reading »
Tonight, our President Barack Obama gives one of the most important speeches of our era as he takes on the motherf***ing quarter of America’s doctors, insurance companies and hospitals and their pimps in Congress (the Republican Congressmen and Senators) in an address to a joint session of Congress at 8PM ET.
We’ve endured enough nonsense these last few months with all this Republican baloney about Death Panels, Socialized Medicine and such unadulterated garbage.
Talking with Doctors, Insurance Companies and their Republican pimps/lobbyists is a frigging waste of time.
Time to move ahead and stop all this cockamamie nonsense of bipartsanship. It hasn’t worked so far and won’t work with callous pigs, who see only $$$.
There are reports that Obama will not insist on a Public Option. If that is true, it’d be a collossal blunder.
Tragedy Worsens
Folks, there are 75 million uninsured and underinsured people in this country.
People are dying because of inaffordability of medical care and/or going bankrupt because of sky-high bills and the refusal of insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions. Continue reading »
All ye desi chickens scared of Swine Flu.
Take heart.
Help is at hand. Closer than you think.
India’s Go-Vigyan Kendra has a remedy in Panchyagavvya Ghrut.
And pray what is this Panchyagavvya Ghrut?
Oh, that’s a mixture including cow urine, dung, curd, milk and ghee. Sounds yummy, na?
Here’s an excerpt from the Bloomberg story:
Our medicines are effective against chronic illnesses such as tuberculosis and blood pressure and will strengthen the immunity of a person,†said Gopal Vohra, a vaidya, or Ayurvedic doctor, at Go-Vigyan Kendra. He said Panchyagavvya Ghrut, a mixture that includes cow urine, dung, curd, milk and ghee are among treatments by the group that can prevent the flu.
We don’t know about you. Continue reading »
We must confess that we too are guilty of this unhealthy practice (but stopped lately out of fear of an accident and the lurking cops).
But it’s all your fault.
You see if you hadn’t posted a comment we wouldn’t have checked our iPhone while driving.
Wonder what excuse all the others have.
Majority Intexticated
A recent survey by online automotive community CarGurus has found that a majority of drivers had used a cell phone to read/write e-mail or text while driving in the last 12 months.
In the CarGurus poll, over half of respondents (52%) fessed up to using a cell phone to read/write email or text while driving in the last one year.
CarGurus cited a July 2009 Virginia Tech Transportation Institute study that truck drivers face a 23 times higher risk of a crash or near crash while texting than when not doing so.
Highlighting the growing concern over the dangers of using cell phones to read/write e-mail or text when driving, the U.S. Senate last month proposed a bill (ALERT ACT) that would ban truck and car drivers from texting or e-mailing while driving.
Some 14 states already prohibit texting while driving.
