India vs Pakistan; Let’s Crush the Swines

Allah-o-Akbar – India Beats Pakistan

Just a few minutes to go before the crucial India vs Pakistan Terroristan semi-final match starts at Mohali.

The winner of today’s match will meet Sri Lanka in the finals on April 2 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

We hope the Indian players put out their best game and are not swayed by any extraneous offers from bookies or other vested interests.

The Indian National Anthem is playing. How much more melodious compared to the cacophonous Pak anthem.

We see Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, their poodle Manmohan Singh and Bollywood actorAamir Khan in the stadium.

Manmohan Singh and Pakistan Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani are greeting the players.

India won the toss and opted to bat.

Big crowd!

    Morning SI. Big match! Responds:

    Good Morning, sweetie.

5 Boundaries in 3rd over – All from Sehwag!

I am very disappointed with Dhoni’s decision to leave out Ashwin (A good spinner and moderate batsman) in favour of Nehra. I wish that he had brought in Nehra instead of the monotonous MUNAF PATEL, that would have made Indian bowling incisive. But I guess Dhoni thinks Munaf is better than Aswin. I wish that Munaf proves himself and contributes to an Indian win.

As for me replying to Kreacher’s comment, I guess I would need to again string in facts, which I am afraid would be too needless at this hour as India are taking on Pakistan. Since I am anyways gonna lose the battle as “Sachin will ultimately prove that he is a BIG match player anyways by playing great innings against Pak and SL”.
This is one verbal battle I would love to lose. What is the use of me presenting facts when I wholeheartedly believe that Sachin will score anyways.

And just for the record, no matter what stupid decision DHONI makes, no matter what brilliance Pakistan shows, India must and will win this match.

Didn’t want to login here .. superstitious.. but that didn’t work out. Sehwag got out. ๐Ÿ™ Responds:

    All your fault.

If you’d logged in ahead of the others (KD, Aswin, Kreacher, Twig, Shadowfax, curiousboy…,) Sehwag would still be out there.

OMG, Sachin’s two close shaves in 10th over.

    Watching on TV today.

  4. เฎฎเฏเฎฉเฎฟAndy   March 30, 2011 at 6:11 am

I am still on the comp. Planning to go the neighbor’s.. they have a dish network subscription. Their lights are not on, so will go at a more godly hour.. 3rd life.. Responds:

Maybe, they’re in the basement. Do u have basements in your area or is the watertable too high as in places like New Orleans (where even graves are above ground).

  5. kd36939   March 30, 2011 at 6:39 am

50 from Sachin. But not entirely impressed. Responds:

Yeah, as we just wrote…how long can he be lucky?

  6. curiousboy   March 30, 2011 at 6:51 am

If Sachin gets to a century today, then… you know… as per the superstition… ๐Ÿ™ Responds:

  7. curiousboy   March 30, 2011 at 7:16 am

Well, there’s a ‘myth’ that when Sachin gets to a century, India loses. I was referring to that. Responds:

We were hoping for a score of 300+. Not sure, if it’ll happen now.

  8. Aswin_Kini   March 30, 2011 at 7:22 am

I think India should score atleast 325 to win this match, what do you say SI? Responds:

We’ll be surprised, very surprised if they even reach 300.

  9. Aswin_Kini   March 30, 2011 at 7:30 am

Do you think that Ravichandran Aswin’s exclusion will affect the India-Pak match result in any way. By the way Sachin and Dhoni are batting, I’ll be surprised if we can reach 300 considering the current run-rate and Raina being the last recognized batsmen.

I still think Dhoni did a BIG mistake by excluding Aswin. Responds:

We are more concerned about the batting because if we have a solid 325-350 score that can to some extent compensate for the inadequate bowling. Alas, that won’t happen today.

Wiser heads than ours (only in cricket, mind you) aka the talking heads on TV believe Aswin’s exclusion was a mistake.

    • Aswin_Kini   March 30, 2011 at 7:55 am

I sincerely pray that this is one of those rare days where the Indian bowlers come to the party and take wickets. But highly unlikely, if India desire to win, then the old menancing Zaheer-Nehra combination has to click.

Nehra needs to bowl like the fast (really fast) bowler Nehra of 2002-03, I am sure if Dhoni places more confidence in Nehra and Zaheer’s abilities, we can sneak home. Responds:

You write: I sincerely pray that this is one of those rare days where the Indian bowlers come to the party and take wickets.

You’ll have better luck praying that Ash leaves Abhishek for you. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • shadowfax_arbit   March 30, 2011 at 7:55 am

Ashwin is a confident frontline bowler, he can bowl at any situation, has a good temperament and Pakistanis have never faced him (they didn’t play IPL last season). Given all these, Ashwin’s exclusion is a BIG mistake.

Hope it doesn’t cost us the match. Pakistan batting is not so great and we still have chances provided we make atleast 250. Responds:

India is most likely screwed. As things stand now (India 205-6), Pak will win today & their players will get 25 Acres of Fertile Land each.

  10. เฎฎเฏเฎฉเฎฟAndy   March 30, 2011 at 7:45 am

in a way, glad that this is not how he got his 100th 100. now we have to pray for Paki sepukku. Responds:

Two years from now, will there be reports of how Indian batsmen made a killing from the bookies in the 2011 World Cup?

Hey, this is Incredible India. Anything’s possible! ๐Ÿ™

  11. shadowfax_arbit   March 30, 2011 at 7:52 am

Sachin didn’t make century. Now we have chances!! Responds:

We doubt it because unless there’s a miracle we’re gonna be defending a low or at best not-so-good score.

India is playing defense now while Pak is playing offense!.

    • curiousboy   March 30, 2011 at 8:06 am

Ha ha… Yaa, India has its chance now! ๐Ÿ˜€ Responds:

If India wins today, you can pick whichever old comment of yours that you want removed.

      Howzat! ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • curiousboy   March 30, 2011 at 8:26 am

All of ’em! All of ’em! All of ’em! ๐Ÿ˜€ Responds:

Well, don’t start counting your chickens till they are hatched the Pak plane lands in Lahore tomorrow.

  12. Aswin_Kini   March 30, 2011 at 8:08 am

“Two years from now, will there be reports of how Indian batsmen made a killing from the bookies in the 2011 World Cup?

Hey, this is Incredible India. Anythingโ€™s possible! ”

True/…. but this is highly unlikely as of now

Hoping Dhoni plays a “Captain’s innings” today and bails out India. This idiot has done nothing worthy of note, including shamelessly promoting himself ahead of Kohli and being the cause of two BATTING COLLAPSES against England and South Africa.

Maybe to remind you of a crucial statistic, No country has ever won a World Cup without some contributions from its captain.

1975 – Clive Llyod scored 102 off 80 balls to lead West Indies
1979 – Clive Llyod didn;t score much in the finals, but he had contributed crucial fifties in the league games.
1983 – Kapil played the innings of a lifetime, 175 not out, against Zimbabwe in a MUST-WIN match. Although many consider Zimbabwe to be an inferior opponent, India had to win the match to stay alive and Kapil really inspired leading from the front. Also, his spectacular running catch of Vivian Richards turned the cup in India’s favor.
1987: Allan Border scored many precious fifties and took the crucial wicket of his counterpart, Mike Gatting, in the final.
1992: Imran Khan led from the front by scoring two solid fifties in the Semis and Finals.
1996: Ranatunga provided solidarity to the Sri Lankan batting line up and scored crucial fifties. More importantly, he came to the crease to join Aravinda De Silva and hit the winning run himself.
1999: Steve Waugh hit perhaps the best match winning century of the World Cup. He scored a crucial 120 against South Africa (A match best known for the “You’ve dropped the World cup mate” comment to Gibbs)
2003: Ponting had not played any worthy innings till the final. But he snatched the opportunity to capitalize a good start by Gilchrist and scored a match-winning 140.
2007: Ponting scored 500+ runs to contribute to Australia’s dominance over the other teams.

2011: I am not sure who is gonna win. Sangakkara has scored more than 300 runs in the tournament. Meanwhile, Dhoni is yet to score a decent fifty……

    Let’s see what happens Responds:

Your comment is moot now because MS Dhoni is already out.

Don’t know how much he can accomplish in the field.

  13. เฎฎเฏเฎฉเฎฟAndy   March 30, 2011 at 8:29 am

Raina.. India’s Luteru Ross Poutoa Lote Taylor Responds:

No comparison. Ross Taylor’s innings of 131 NO against Pak is one for the ages.

  14. venkatramani   March 30, 2011 at 8:49 am

certainly i hope india will not make it easy to the porkistanis they arent a strong batting lineup and some early inroads could send me peeing on their pants. plus, they havent displayed the same intensity on the field both teams barring wahab riaz and sehwag in the beginning. Responds:

Well, we’ll know in a few overs who will be peeing on whose parade.

  15. venkatramani   March 30, 2011 at 8:54 am

just like to smash the heads of two porki girls dancing at the fall of each wicket. a smiling pakistani just steams my blood. cmon boys put the bastards back to the plane on their way to d shithole they call as home

  16. What_if   March 30, 2011 at 8:55 am

Hi, I feel 260 is a decent score to defend. Hope our bowlers get a quick break through and start building the pressure on the Pakees… I wanna Celebrate tonight … Responds:

You write: I wanna Celebrate tonight …

So do we, so do we. It depends on our spinners.

Is Singh gonna be King today? ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • Aswin_Kini   March 30, 2011 at 9:06 am

Boss, India might have put up a pathetic batting show, but I am sure that they will win this match. Pressure is also on the Pakis. First, it is Indian batting that got exposed. I am wondering if the pitch is really a batting strip as they suggested. I see that it does swing a little and the evening dew will soak the outfield, which means there is bound to be some difficulty for the fielding, and the batting side as well.

If Indian bowlers Zaheer and Nehra bowl inspired spells and rip the top order out, we seriously get a match on our hands.

As they say, it ain’t all over till the fat lady sings. For some stupid reason, I feel Pakistan will get bundled out for 238-245.

Some Indian bowler has to take up the charge and blow out the Pakistani batting.
      I Responds:

You write: I feel Pakistan will get bundled out for 238-245.

From your lips to Allah’s ears.

Last time when dear kini made such an analysis in a match against england, it ended up in a tie ๐Ÿ™

But this time, it is more unlikely..!! Responds:

When Allah is with India, we can’t lose.

        • Aswin_Kini   March 30, 2011 at 1:18 pm

Ha ha ha, India win ๐Ÿ™‚ India won. India won won won won…………….

@Boopalanj: It doesn’t matter what Kini says, as long as Mr.Dhoni doesn’t make any stupid decisions, India will win easily. Stop blaming me, ask Dhoni to stop making instinctive decisions and include good bowlers the next time around.

India should have ideally won this match by 38 runs, but ended up winning a bit closer. Sri Lanka wont offer India this luxury. I hope Dhoni understands that he needs wicket-taking bowlers to win matches ๐Ÿ™‚

  19. venkatramani   March 30, 2011 at 9:09 am

lets hope the disgusting rabid dogs of the planet aka porkistan get royally screwed up and going by the conditions ind have put up a pretty decent score and the pitch doesnt seem conducive to batting as it was made out to be. Responds:

Our fielding has not been up to par.

Hope our boys dive in front of the balls and prevent all those costly boundaries.

  20. venkatramani   March 30, 2011 at 9:14 am

Nehra could be the man for the occasion. he had bailed out the team on a similar occasion versus england. the swing when riaz was bowling that we saw in the match was encouraging and hope nehra and zak can reproduce the same

  21. shadowfax_arbit   March 30, 2011 at 9:15 am

Looked like Nehra came for batting after a shot of weed. Did you see his facial expressions and stuff and the way he batted? Responds:

Considering our fondness for weed and anything that can get us high, we should have paid greater attention.

Watching his facial expression carefully now. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  22. Aswin_Kini   March 30, 2011 at 9:40 am

From the look of things, India are not at all doing good. A weak set of openers line up scores 20/0 in 3 overs. Shame!

None of the Indians have showed any guts for the fight. It is as if they are playing a league game.I wish Dhoni and co realise the magnitude of the situation. If India desire to show that they can win matches from any position, today could be their best chance. If India bowl and field with determination, they can easily bundle out Pakistan within 45 overs.

I will not be posting any further comments till 9pm. Too tensed to say anything. Dhoni, and his bigmouth, have done nothing worthwhile in this match.

I am still hopeful. Hopefully, things improve. I want to post a comment here saying India win Thriller. I pray it happens soon.

    ๐Ÿ˜ Responds:

You write: I am still hopeful….I pray it happens soon.

Wonder what Hindu God Aswin is named after?

Aren’t all Hindus named after some God or the other.

Of course, the Gods these days are Akshay Kumar, Ajith, Ramcharan Teja and Rajinikanth. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Ok, but I seriously don’t understand the context of this comment. But Ravichandran Aswin’s presence would have made things easier for India. But you never know. Anyways, India won ๐Ÿ™‚

I am just here to say “India WON, INDIA WON” ๐Ÿ™‚ Boy. I wanna go into the streets shouting and boasting about India’s win.

The job is half done, India still have the REAL final to win. And India WILL win it.

Kreacher: The score is Kreacher 1, Aswin 0. If Sachin hits another MATCH WINNING fifty against Sri Lanka (Which he will) and the other batsmen step in, then I think we can safely close the books on who India’s greatest match winner was ๐Ÿ™‚

Pray for India to win. Responds:

You write: Ok, but I seriously don’t understand the context of this comment.

Since you mentioned prayer, we wondered which God you were named after.

      • kreacher   March 30, 2011 at 2:28 pm

Well, though this was his third MotM against Pakistan in the World Cups, I am pretty sure he himself wouldn’t have been very thrilled with the chances he offered. His 98 in 2003 was a class above by comparison. Anyway, a top score in a tight Indian victory is a gift horse whose mouth I will not look into. Responds:

        1. You write: Anyway, a top score in a tight Indian victory is a gift horse whose mouth I will not look into.

Hey, we’ll take a victory wrapped in any package.

Pak (mis)fielding contributed in no small measure to their missing out on the Free 25-acre of Fertile Land offer.

        2. BTW, Aswin Kini mentioned you in two or three of his comments. In case you missed ’em, do a Control-F with ‘Kreacher’ and you’ll see them.

          2. BTW, Aswin Kini mentioned you in two or three of his comments. In case you missed โ€˜em, do a Control-F with โ€˜Kreacherโ€™ and youโ€™ll see them.

I did see them (in fact this is a response to one of them). I am really hoping the debate doesn’t continue as I am knackered. I have slept only 4 hours out of the last 72, juggling work and cricket, and am surviving purely on post-victory euphoria at this point ๐Ÿ™‚

We don’t think he’ll continue it either.

All he cares about now is seeing his namesake play in the finals.

No, all I want is India winning the finals. I was just worried about Ashwin’s exclusion because our bowling seemed pathetic without him. Thankfully Munaf and Nehra nullified my fears. Hope they do better in finals ๐Ÿ™‚

We thought Ashish Nehra bowled an impressive spell at 2-33, the most economical of the lot..

SI Wrote: “Since you mentioned prayer, we wondered which God you were named after.”

Don’t know, doesn’t matter anyways. The only Aswin that matters in the final would be Ravichandran Ashwin ๐Ÿ™‚ Responds:

You must be a Visionary and a Brave Knight! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Ashvin means light in the Hindi language, and Ashvini is the first star that appears in the evening sky, in Hindu constellation it is the head of Aries, or the first of the 27 Nakshatras. In Thai a variation of Ashvin, known as Asaween, stands for “brave knight”. In Anglo-Saxon, Aescwine means ‘of great wealth, swift’.

Ashvin also stands for the Divine twins, the “Ashvins”, considered to be the Hindu Gods of vision, in Hindu mythology.

Sachin and Nehra making Aswin eat his words .. just kidding Mr. Kini. Responds:

    • Aswin_Kini   March 30, 2011 at 1:44 pm

“Sachin and Nehra making Aswin eat his words” – I am happy for Nehra, buddy. Seriously. He is a match winner and always was one. Dhoni doesn;t know how to use him. With some good matches, Nehra will blossom to be a better strike bowler in the future. But it all depends on Dhoni using him well.

Dhoni should stop being adamant and give more encouragement to Nehra. At present, he seems to believe Munaf more than Nehra. I bet Nehra is a better bowler anyday. Trust my word, one day, if Nehra is selected in final and comes to form, the cup will be India’s to take.

Until then, enjoy the cricket. ๐Ÿ™‚

      • shadowfax_arbit   March 31, 2011 at 1:08 am

        >> Dhoni should stop being adamant and give more encouragement to Nehra.

Dhoni sucks I admit but what more encouragement can you give than giving Nehra the ball in last over of SA match (though Bhaji also had one) in which Nehra screwed up big time. Responds:

Dhoni is smarter than we all give him credit for.

Even if he personally is not faring that well in his batting, at the end of the day he seems to be delivering the desired results.

We also like his calm, unruffled composure despite the obvious pressure.

Kumar Sangakkara sports an even more calm attitude on the ground.

Compared to Afridi (very hands-on on the ground), Kumar Sangakkara and M.S.Dhoni seem to have greater confidence in their boys. A kind of you are big-boys you know what to do, just do it.

Our Indian players would probably say “Who cares for 25-acres pf Fertile Land” when 2 1/2 sq inches of Fertile Pussy is awaiting us in the likes of Poonam…’ They will surely lift the WC on Saturday.. another Big Celebration day for us… Responds:

Poonam Pandey got what she wanted.

Nobody knew her name until his morning (at least we didn’t). And now, everyone wants to plough her field.

Smart babe! More power to her p*ssy! ๐Ÿ˜‰
