    It can “think” 😀

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

Surely, Abhishek must be God’s curse on Amitabh Bachchan. 😉

What other reason can there be for its creation and existence?

    Talking of idiots…

These fellows had a success meet for their movie 3 days after its release!

    http://www.sify.com/movies/karthi-holds-saguni-success-meet-news-tamil-mgzu3Bebadc.html?scategory=tamil

and Tharuthalai is back to torment and this time he isn’t sparing even those who don’t speak tamil!

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    1. My favorite line from your Billa 2 link:

In France, the Film will release on 10 plus screens with French sub-titles

I have not the slightest doubt that the French have stopped eating their Foie gras and drinking their Burgundy in eager anticipation of this Ultimate Korangu-style ‘actor’ Ajith Kumar’s tour de force.

    2. You write above: These fellows had a success meet for their movie 3 days after its release!

I’m planning a ‘Success Meet” for this comment in 3 minutes.

I have not stopped laughing since I read this…

    http://www.behindwoods.com/tamil-movie-news-1/jun-12-04/bharathiraja-arjuna-28-06-12.html

But to his credit Bommalattam was a very poorly made film with a plot that had very good potential.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

I blame it on the heat and power-cuts in Tamil Nadu.

Say what you will, but air-conditioning keeps the nerve-pathways in the brain working smoothly.

A Tamil movie (re)made by Hollywood? I’ll stop drinking and bankrupt the Patel liquor store fella.

How is it that SI has not yet commented on today’s BIG ruling? 🙂

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

Sweetie, my initial euphoria over Obamacare has completely evaporated.

I remain skeptical that much will change in the U.S. healthcare system unless there’s a U.K. or Canada-style single payer system where everyone is covered.

Also, keep in mind that the Republicans are unlikely to fund it in the House. I’m also distressed over the side deal Obama struck with the pharma industry.

Some incremental improvements, sure. But the operative word is incremental and not improvements.

The cost side and the extortionist fees charged by doctors/hospitals/drug companies/health insurers are not addressed/adequately addressed and without that it can’t be revolutionary, but merely evolutionary.

Bottom line, I’m going to go against the conventional wisdom (and my own original thoughts on the subject) that thinks Obamacare/today’s Supreme Court ruling is a BIG deal and say that without a single-payer system it’s all, as the Bard would say, Much Ado About Nothing.

Plus, if you are to believe the polls, about 40%-50% of Americans are not in favor of Obamacare.

I doubt there will be much traction behind this ‘healthcare band-aid’ beyond the next 30-minutes.

In any case, the key provisions will take effect only in 2014.

It’ll be at least 2016 or 2017 before we can understand the ramifications of Obamacare and whether the impact has been, as you put it, BIG or as SI predicts it Small.

christopher nolan’s first movie as a director

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

Not bad for a first film.

I’d go as far as to say it’s more engaging than what comes out of the Bollywood sewers every Friday.

    • Mnx542   July 1, 2012 at 11:52 am

      @SI

I don’t get it. What was Nolan trying to convey here?..

      SearchIndia.com Responds:

      1. What Nolan was trying to convey only he knows for sure. The rest is mere speculation.

      2. But for a first production, it’s pretty decent. It doesn’t have the crude, crappy look that’s the hallmark of an Indian director’s 50th movie.

Oh gosh!! I thought your site was banned along with a few other sites that were banned recently… Good to see it back..

A day never completes without a peek on to SI

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    Sweetie, I’m surprised.

A few other people from Tamil Nadu also mentioned that they couldn’t access SI but I didn’t take them seriously.

I have no clue what could be causing this issue.

It could be some culprits in Mera Bharat Mahaan or an errant WordPress plugin.

    I’ll look into it.

    Thanks.

N.B.: Since Billa 2 is releasing in the near future, some Sori Nayi fans of that Ultimate Korangu-style actor could also be up to some mischief!

    • Mnx542   July 1, 2012 at 11:44 am

I don’t know about SI being blocked or inaccessible but several other sites like dailymotion, torrentz etc were banned with a “banned as per court order” message being displayed when you enter the website address. It seems they did this to prevent piracy. what a load of shit.!!.. But thankfully, the sites are back..!

“Since Billa 2 is releasing in the near future, some Sori Nayi fans of that Ultimate Korangu-style actor could also be up to some mischief!”

These fans make me sick. .not just Ajith fans but also moronic fans of Vijay, Rajni, Kamal etc.!! they are complete disgrace to their idols..!!

Ha ha ha, as if the so-called cinema idols are periya pudingis (big daddies).

Kamal Hassan is a thieving scumbag.

Ajith and Vijay would not recognize acting if it kicked them on the face.

In Tamil Nadu, the worthless actors and the sori nayi (rabid dog) fans complement each other.

Made (and mad) for each other. 🙁

        SearchIndia.com Responds:

You’d be surprised at the nonsense these Ultimate Korangu-style Star’s fans try.

Lately, Ajith’s stupid wastrel fans are engaging in synchronized attacks on SI.

That’s what happens when these youngsters have too many ‘dads’ in their homes!

        • Dr.Logu   July 2, 2012 at 3:31 pm

You are giving too much credit to “Tholla (troublesome) Ajith fans” by alluding that they have the skill to engage in internet mischiefs…

At their best, I’ve seen them mentioning your website with the link in some social networking sites and yahoo question and answers that’s it… be it ajith fans whatever damn actor’s fans

          SearchIndia.com Responds:

Any time the release of Ajith’s film nears, we see a spurt in attack on SI’s servers.

This time, these apes are engaging in synchronized attacks – Tamil Nadu, Hyderabad, Singapore etc.

Too many crazies and nut cases in the world.

    Here’s a link for Vishwaroopam’s stunner

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=dTP3zyiW7C0

Though it looks cliched like any other film with its plot around Islamic terror, I must say the trailer was much better than the previous junk. If not kamal, Its hard to imagine any other mainstream actor to portray a kathak dancer..I will watch it for sure
But the white man going ooh aah at kamal at the end is “rombave over”

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

Watched the entire 5:40 min trailer + making of Vishwaroopam in your link.

    Nothing extraordinary.

Why do they have to make Rahul Bose look so hideous. He’s bad enough as it is. 😉

But Rahul is one of the few good actors in India.

    • Mnx542   July 1, 2012 at 11:46 am

Not extraordinary but I’ll say that the few scenes that are shown look more polished than the many tamil movies released in recent times..!!

The latest trailer shows some promise.. I’m going to watch it anyways, so just hope it’s good.!!

      SearchIndia.com Responds:

I suspect it won’t be before Sep/October that the Vishwaroopam magnum op can hit the screens….the dust from Billa 2, Thupakki, Matran has to settle.

Any similarities between Vishwaropam and True Lies? 😉

      • Naveen   July 2, 2012 at 1:01 am

Better than the first trailer but need to wait for the actual movie.

He is trying to build as much hype as possible to get a big opening.

        SearchIndia.com Responds:

I’d be surprised if Ulaganayagan’s (Universal hero) Vishwaroopam gets even half the response of the Ultimate ‘Korangu-style’ Star’s Billa 2 on the opening day!

        • Naveen   July 2, 2012 at 4:39 pm

          I agree.

It seems as if Kamal has been relegated to the list of has been’s.

Vishwaroopam could prove me wrong but I’ll be surprised if it turns out to be a big hit.

      • Mnx542   July 2, 2012 at 4:35 am

“I suspect it won’t be before Sep/October that the Vishwaroopam magnum op can hit the screens….the dust from Billa 2, Thupakki, Matran has to settle.”

Yes, that’s true. Billa 2 buzz is ringing wild here and the teaser’s already sent everyone, especially Ajith fans, on a high. They are having some kind of function today and are launching a new trailer too. No buzz yet for Thupakki or Matraan.. Don’t think these movies would have the kind of opening that B2 would have. Ajith films have a greater opening here than Vijay or Surya.

ARM said Thupakki is due in August. Same for Matraan but I don’t think both could manage an August release. Let’s see what happens..!!

      • Mnx542   July 2, 2012 at 4:37 am

“Any similarities between Vishwaropam and True Lies?”

I wouldn’t be surprised even if it’s a rip off. Hope it’s not.

    Have you watched Mugamoodi’s trailer?

Big Fu*king joke, in my not so humble opinion.

But Mysskin is an acclaimed director and I liked his Anjathe and to an extent Yudham Sei. The only jarring note about Yudham Sei was that it was a bit slow in the second half and halway through the first half, I knew exactly who was the killer. That ruined the suspense for me.

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    Just watched the Mugamudi trailer.

Looks like a Poor Man’s Batman.

I remain skeptical that Tamil moviemakers can pull off a Superhero film when they can’t even put out a simple entertainer.

Just because you put a cape on Jiva doesn’t make him a superhero…the fellow still looks and acts like a Vadivelu or Brahmanandam when drunk.

BTW, is it true that the Tamil film industry is now hosting parties to celebrate the success of trailers?

After all, within three days of release they celebrated the success of Saguni! 😉

    • Mnx542   July 3, 2012 at 3:57 am

“Just because you put a cape on Jiva doesn’t make him a superhero…the fellow still looks and acts like a Vadivelu or Brahmanandam when drunk.”

I disagree. Jiva is one of the few actors who can spell the word acting. Considering only the Mugamoodi trailer, I’d say he looked like a clown but if you consider all the movies that he has done, he’s managed to bring atleast some life to the characters he portrays. May not be the Naseerudin Shah kind but he’s certainly not the Vijay/Ajith/Simbhu/Abhishek Bachan kind either..!!

      Btw, Billa 2 latest trailer.
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=beOgcOu-vQU

Somehow, I feel this wouldn’t be a disappointment.

      SearchIndia.com Responds:

My sixth sense too tells me Billa 2 wouldn’t be the usual Ajith garbage.

Might even be able to watch it without puking my guts out.

      • Mnx542   July 3, 2012 at 10:47 am

“My sixth sense too tells me Billa 2 wouldn’t be the usual Ajith garbage”

10 more days and we’ll know.. Another welcome relief is that B2 doesn’t have any comedy at all… no vivek/vadivelu/santhanam.. phew!!

        SearchIndia.com Responds:

Maybe, Ajith is providing all the comedy with its antics. 😉

Seriously, thank God…the comedy track in Tamil films runs on a completely parallel line that makes it intolerable.

        • Naveen   July 3, 2012 at 11:10 am

I’d prefer to watch it assuming it would be a load of crap and hope to be pleasantly surprised rather than expecting something good and ending up with garbage on my face.

Being an actor with very limited acting skills I don’t expect anything better from Ajith.

However, the director seems to have some technical finesse which I will be interested in.

          SearchIndia.com Responds:

Given Ajith’s limited acting capabilities, it’s hard for him to sink further.

Off-topic: My friend met Ajith during the Billa 2 shooting and described him as a polite and pleasant fellow. But since my friend is also close to another key person involved with Billa 2, I’m inclined to discount the opinion.

          • Naveen   July 3, 2012 at 11:57 am

Coincidentally one of my colleague’s brother knows Ajith personally and has the same opinion about him – a polite, courteous and humble man who does a lot of charitable work. It is because of these personal traits that my colleague watches all Ajith movies.

Indian become move star fans for very different reasons.

          • Mnx542   July 3, 2012 at 11:24 pm

            @Naveen

“However, the director seems to have some technical finesse which I will be interested in”

Yes, if this film turns out to be decent, the technical aspects will be the major contributor. I also expect a decent story.

          • Mnx542   July 3, 2012 at 11:45 pm

“My friend met Ajith during the Billa 2 shooting and described him as a polite and pleasant fellow. But since my friend is also close to another key person involved with Billa 2, I’m inclined to discount the opinion.”

            You know what?

One of my friends met him during Billa 2007 shooting and this is exactly what he said.

Ajith has such a huge fan following only because of his real life personality. Btw, if I remember right, he even advised his fans to stop posting personal comments about actors online.

But being the rabid mongrels they are, they didn’t even bother to listen. The Billa 2 teaser video had lots of nasty comments about Vijay and Surya, which led to the uploader disabling the comments section.

        • Mnx542   July 3, 2012 at 11:22 pm

          @SI

“Maybe, Ajith is providing all the comedy with its antics”

Other than his limited acting skills, I don’t think you’re going to see any other antics (like dancing around like a monkey for example).

“Seriously, thank God…the comedy track in Tamil films runs on a completely parallel line that makes it intolerable”

The disgusting “comedy” in Singam is a classic example for this. Tamil film makers just don’t have any imagination or creativity.

          SearchIndia.com Responds:

Given the strong resonance of Billa franchise with Tamil (m)asses and Ajith’s fan-following, I expect Billa 2 to set the box office benchmark for Tamil movies in 2012.

Matran, Yematran, Thupaki, Soorpanaki, Vishwaroopam etc face a tough battle.

      • Dr.Logu   July 3, 2012 at 2:09 pm

The trailer looks decent especially the first half and I hope it turns out watchable atleast once.

Ajith looks like one of the common downtrodden angry men (from a Sri Lankan refugee camp according to the reports) in the first half.. How does he become a dreadful, nation-fearing don in the second half ??

The problem i see here is how good the director has handled this transition … I hope it’s not like Rajini turning from a ordinary milkman to a business tycoon overnight as in Annamalai.

        • Mnx542   July 3, 2012 at 11:56 pm

          @Dr.Logu

“from a Sri Lankan refugee camp according to the reports”

This is evident from the movie’s latest trailer.

“The problem i see here is how good the director has handled this transition … I hope it’s not like Rajini turning from a ordinary milkman to a business tycoon overnight as in Annamalai”

          Hopefully not.

Because the entire movie is about an ordinary man and the circumstances that led him to become a dreaded don.

So I believe the transition will be convincing.

          SearchIndia.com Responds:

          1. How can you say “the transition will be convincing” unless you’ve already seen the movie.

After all, the history of Tamil films is a history of unconvincing transitions from frame to frame.

          2. It’d be interesting to see how the songs are picturized.

Desperate for a good laugh – Waiting to see Ajith ‘dance!’

          • Mnx542   July 4, 2012 at 3:50 am

” How can you say “the transition will be convincing” unless you’ve already seen the movie”

I said I BELIEVE the transition will be convincing as the entire movie is about Billa’s transition from an ordinary guy into a dreaded don. I was trying to say it wouldn’t be in just one song as in Annamalai(where they show Rajni becoming a business tycoon over the length of one song).

“It’d be interesting to see how the songs are picturized.

Desperate for a good laugh – Waiting to see Ajith ‘dance!’”

Would have been a lot better if it didn’t have any songs at all. In most movies, the songs are an irritating distraction from the main story. At least, I hope that the songs aren’t forced into the movie as in Mankatha.

          • AC   July 4, 2012 at 11:26 am

Shades of “Scarface” in the trailer, in the sense that just like Tony Montana, Billa lands in his adopted country as a refugee.
Mind you, I am not saying B2 is an out-and-out copy of Scarface. That would be a tad unfair to the makers of B2 (at this point).

All in all, a trailer for an Ajith movie is (for once) pretty intriguing…

            SearchIndia.com Responds:

You write: Shades of “Scarface” in the trailer

            Ha ha ha.

Not in a million years. No shades, no atoms, no molecules of Ajith comes anywhere close.

The maniacal energy the coke-snorting, wildly screaming, enraged Tony Montana brings to the screen is one for the ages.

Au contraire, Ajith is a podi paiyya, a spittoon fit only for the Tamil jackasses who know no better than to deepthroat this bozo.

          • AC   July 5, 2012 at 10:33 am

I think you have misunderstood my comment. I was just pointing out the parallels in the respective origins of Tony Montana and Billa based on the trailer. My comment has nothing to do with Ajith’s acting abilities.

  11. Rajarajan   July 3, 2012 at 11:35 am

Saw this new trailer of Barfi!

Ranbir is surely is an amazing actor.. Better than the Khans in my opinion

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=yZxrao3zou4

    SearchIndia.com Responds:

    Trailer looks interesting.

Looks like one of those European movies…Italian. No, I’m not saying Barfi is a copy. Just that it evokes nice feelings usually triggered by old Italian films.

Hope they edit Priyanka Chopra out of the movie. That creature Jonah is the kiss of death for a movie. The other mosquito (Ileana) is equally repellent.

Randhir Kapoor is the best among the younger lot, way ahead of the Khans, the Bachchans (including the Wig-walla Sr) and Kumars.

If Freud were alive and following Bollywood, he’d probably write that the seemingly inexplicable Indian (read Hindus) love for the Khans is actually a reflection of their loss of manhood in the face of Muslim aggression and a surrender of their womenfolk to the invaders. 😉

    • Naveen   July 3, 2012 at 11:59 am

“If Freud were alive and following Bollywood, he’d probably write that the seemingly inexplicable Indian (read Hindus) love for the Khans is actually a reflection of their loss of manhood in the face of Muslim aggression and a surrender of their womenfolk to the invaders.”

What do you eat before coming up with these statements?!! 😀

      SearchIndia.com Responds:

Chapati Roll (with Spinach Curry and Feta Cheese filling) accompanied by a glass of piping hot Stash Chai Spice Black Tea.

Oh well, it looks like you’re in the Jungian camp.

I’d venture to say that their other differences notwithstanding Jung would completely agree with Freud on the subject of Bollywood and add that the Indian (read Hindus) love for the Khans also demonstrates a strong masochistic streak and appeasement strategy. The Indian obsession with Khans is not unlike Keira Knightley’s craven longing to be spanked by Jung in A Dangerous Method!

Only by traveling on the Sigmund Freud-Carl Jung Highway, can one hope to make sense of Bollywood, its Muslim superstars and the largely Hindu audience.

Oh yes, I strongly recommend the Chapati Roll with Feta Cheese and Spinach Curry with Chai Spice tea. Like Ladies Finger(s), my breakfast combo sharpens the brain. 😉
