16 Indians Make it to Bee Semifinals

Following a grueling preliminary round, 16 Indian-Americans made it to the 2013 Spelling Bee semifinals.

A total of 42 youngsters passed the tough initial rounds today to enter the semifinals (about 35% of the semifinalists are of Indian origin).

There were 45 Indian kids in the preliminary rounds.

Here’s the list of 16 Indians who made it to the semifinals:

6. Kuvam Shahane
7. Gokul Venkatachalam
8. Ryan Devanandan

11. Ashwin Veeramani
12. Aditya Rao
13. Chetan Reddy
14. Shobha Dasari
15. Syamantak Payra
16. Vismaya Kharkar

The Bee semifinals will take place tomorrow, May 30, 2013.

The 2013 Spelling Bee finals will be held at 8PM tomorrow. The venue is the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, MD.
