Just as night follows day, you can be sure where there are Indians temples will surely follow.

Even if it be America.

There are 100 Jain temples in the U.S. (source: Wiki).

We’re inclined to believe that of the countless faiths and religions in the world Jainism and Buddhism inflict the least harm on society.

Of the scores of Jain temples in the U.S., SI has visited one exclusive Jain temple and a bunch of Hindu Jain temples over the years.

Here is a photo tour of some Jain Gods from Jain temples as well as Hindu-Jain temples in America:

When your restaurant is Spice Zone (Rt-27, Edison, NJ), baby, the least you can do is spice it up.

You know, give us a burning, tingling, sexy sensation. ;)

Spiceless Charade

Alas, alas, Spice Zone turned out to be a spice-less travesty that dashed all our hopes on the hard rock of a mediocre kitchen.

When you charge over $25 for our Indian food, we want full-service and good spicy food.

Not crappy spiceless food in plastic trays/plates and self-service. Comprende?

Chilli Chicken was not in the least spicy and to add gross insult to serious injury the sauce/gravy had a burnt flavor. :(

Vegetarian Manchurian was not only spiceless but the texture of the ball was thoroughly messed up. Way too soft and mushy!

Tasted Yuck! :)

Samosa Chaat was another Himalayan disappointment. Continue reading »

Given our fondness for eating, we never miss an opportunity to stuff food into our mouth.

In the course of our restless gustatory wanderings, we came upon this food item.

Most Indians know the name of this food item though they’d be hard-pressed to identify it by looking at the below picture. ;)

Let’s see how many of you schmucks can get it right. Most likely, no one will.

We’ll provide the answer on Friday.
